Abstract
Various implementations include a glove. The glove includes a body, a mirror, one or more spikes, a location tracker, and an alarm. The body has a palmar side and a dorsal side. The glove defines four finger portions for accepting fingers of a human hand. The mirror is disposed along an outer surface of the body. The one or more spikes extend from the body. The location tracker pocket is defined by the body and configured to retain a location tracking device. The alarm includes a trigger for causing the alarm to generate a sound.
Description
BACKGROUND

There are current self-defense and emergency devices on the market. Each of the current self-defense and emergency devices include at least one feature to help a user defend themselves against an attacker and/or alert another person or party to the attack.


SUMMARY

Various implementations include a glove. The glove includes a body, a mirror, one or more spikes, a location tracker, and an alarm. The body has a palmar side and a dorsal side. The glove defines four finger portions for accepting fingers of a human hand. The mirror is disposed along an outer surface of the body. The one or more spikes extend from the body. The location tracker pocket is defined by the body and configured to retain a location tracking device. The alarm includes a trigger for causing the alarm to generate a sound.


In some implementations, the mirror is disposed along the outer surface of the dorsal side of the body. In some implementations, the mirror includes a flexible material. In some implementations, the mirror is removable.


In some implementations, the mirror includes a flap coupled to the body of the glove and configured to be movable between a covering position in which the flap covers the mirror and an open position in which the mirror is uncovered.


In some implementations, the one or more spikes includes four spikes. In some implementations, each of the four spikes is disposed adjacent a different one of the four finger portions of the body. In some implementations, the one or more spikes extend directly from one or more of the four fingers. In some implementations, the one or more spikes extend from the palmar side of the body.


In some implementations, the one or more spikes are removably coupled to the body. In some implementations, the one or more spikes include a non-ferrous material.


In some implementations, the location tracker pocket is defined by the dorsal side of the body. In some implementations, the location tracker pocket further includes the location tracking device. in some implementations, the location tracking device is permanently coupled to the location tracker pocket.


In some implementations, the alarm further includes a strobe light. In some implementations, the trigger causes the strobe light to produce light. In some implementations, the trigger includes a pressable button. In some implementations, pressing the pressable button causes the alarm to generate the sound. In some implementations, the trigger is disposed directly on one of the four fingers of the body.


In some implementations, the alarm further includes a Bluetooth transmitter. In some implementations, the trigger causes the Bluetooth transmitter to send a signal to another electronic device.


In some implementations, the body defines an opening at the ends of at least one of the finger portions. In some implementations, fingers of a user are configured to extend through the openings in use.


In some implementations, the glove further includes an electrical charging port.


Various other implementations include a glove system including a glove as described herein and a second glove.


In some implementations, the second glove includes a body having a palmar side and a dorsal side. In some implementations, the second glove defines four finger portions for accepting fingers of a second human hand. In some implementations, the second glove further includes at least one of: a mirror disposed along an outer surface of the body of the second glove, one or more spikes extending from the body of the second glove, a location tracker pocket of the second glove, and an alarm including a trigger for causing the alarm to generate a sound.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The devices, systems, and methods disclosed herein provide for a wearable glove that includes self-defense and emergency features. Because the glove is a wearable item, the self-defense and emergency features are readily usable and cannot be dropped.


The gloves disclosed herein include features such as a mirror to allow a user to see behind them, around corners, or in any direction otherwise not possible with the human eye. The mirror can help a user to better see their surroundings so that the user can avoid or prepare for potentially dangerous situations The mirror can also include a cover to conceal the mirror when not in use.


The glove can include one or more spikes for self-defense. The spikes can be used to claw or otherwise scratch an attacker to aid a user in escaping an attack.


The glove can include a location tracking device or a pocket for retaining a location tracking device. The location tracking device can be used to send or otherwise provide location data of the glove to an external device or server. The location data can be used by authorities to determine the location of the attack, the movement of the glove, and/or the current location of the glove in order to aid the authorities in locating the user.


The glove can also include an alarm that can be triggered by a user to produce an alarm sound, produce an alarm strobe light, send an alarm signal or other data, and/or any other alarm signal. The alarm can be used to deter or alert others to an attack on the user.


The glove can also include a Bluetooth transmitter for sending a Bluetooth signal to an external Bluetooth compatible electronic device. The signal can cause the external Bluetooth compatible electronic device to perform any number of tasks, such as calling authorities or sending location data to a server.


The glove can include a battery and a charging port to provide electrical energy to the electronic devices in the glove.

Various other implementations include a glove system including a glove as described herein and a second glove.



FIGS. 1-5B show a glove 100 for self-defense, according to one implementation. The glove 100 includes a body 110, a mirror 140, four spikes 150, a location tracker pocket 160, an alarm 170, and a Bluetooth transmitter 180.


The body 110 has a palmar side 112 and a dorsal side 114. The body 110 defines an inner cavity 116, four finger portions 120 for accepting fingers of a human hand, and a thumb portion 124 for accepting the thumb of a human hand. Each of the finger portions 120 defines an opening 122 in communication with the inner cavity 116 through which at least a portion of the fingers of a user are configured to extend in use. The thumb portion 124 also defines an opening 126 in communication with the inner cavity 116 through which at least a portion of the thumb of a user is configured to extend in use. The body 110 further defines a wrist opening 130 configured to accept the hand of a user being inserted therethrough such that the wrist of the user is disposed therein during use. The glove 110 further includes a wrist strap 132 adjacent the wrist opening 130 that includes hook-and-loop connectors for selectively adjusting the effective size of the wrist opening 130.


Although the body 110 includes openings 122, 126 defined by the four finger portions 120 and the thumb portion 124, in some implementations, one or more of the thumb portion and/or the finger portions include a closed end such that the thumb and/or fingers, respectively, are disposed within the body of the glove during use.


The palmer side 112 of the body 110 of the glove 100 can include gripping portions 118 that include materials or textures that have a higher friction coefficient than the other materials used in the body 110 of the glove 100. The body 110 of the glove 100 also includes various materials such as leather, elastic, and meshes.


The mirror 140 is disposed along the outer surface of the dorsal side 114 of the body 110 of the glove 100. However, in some implementations, the mirror is disposed along the outer surface of the palmer side of the body of the glove or any other portion of the glove.


The mirror 140 is removably coupled to the dorsal side 114 of the body 110 by a hook-and-loop connection (not shown). This allows the user to remove the mirror 140 from the glove 100 if desired. While the glove 100 shown in FIGS. 1-5B uses hook-and-loop connection to couple the mirror 140 to the body 110, in some implementations, the mirror is removably coupled to the body of the glove by magnets, clips, a retaining pocket, snaps, adhesive, or any other removable couplers known in the art.


The mirror 140 is made of a flexible material such that the mirror 140 can bend with movement of the user's hand during use. The mirror 140 shown in FIGS. 1-5B is made of a plastic having a reflective outer surface, but in some implementations, the mirror can be made of any other type of polymer, metal, glass, or any natural or synthetic material. In some implementations, the mirror is made of a rigid material.


The mirror 140 shown in FIGS. 1-5B further includes a flap 142 coupled to the body 110 of the glove 100 adjacent the mirror 140. The flap 142 shown in FIGS. 1-5B is sewn to the body 110 of the glove 100, but in some implementations, the flap is coupled to the body of the glove through any other means known in the art. The flap 142 is configured to be movable between a covering position and an open position. In the covering position, the flap 142 covers the mirror 140. In the open position, the flap 142 is removed from the mirror 140 such that the mirror 140 is uncovered and visible. The free end of the flap 142 also includes a hook-and-loop connector 144 to maintain the flap 142 in the closed position and the open position until enough force is applied by the user to uncouple the flap 142 from its current position to be moved to the other position. In some implementations, the glove does not include a mirror.


The glove 100 shown in FIGS. 1-5B includes four spikes 150 extending from the palmer side 112 of the body 110 of the glove 100. Each of the four spikes 150 is coupled to a portion of the body 110 adjacent a different one of the four finger portions 120. The spikes 150 shown in FIGS. 1-5B are removably coupled to the body 110 by snap buttons 152, but in some implementations, the spikes are coupled to the body by any other coupling means known in the art. In some implementations, the spikes are permanently coupled to the body of the glove.


In some implementations, the glove includes any number of one or more spikes. In some implementations, the glove includes a spike adjacent the thumb portion of the body of the glove. In some implementations, the spikes are coupled to one or more of the finger portions and/or the thumb portion. In some implementations, one or more of the spikes are coupled to the dorsal side of the body of the glove. In some implementations, the glove does not include any spikes.


The spikes 150 shown in FIGS. 1-5B are made of plastic, which is light-weight and does not trigger metal detectors. However, in some implementations, the spikes can be made of any other type of polymer, metal, glass, or any natural or synthetic material. In some implementations, the spikes are made of a non-ferrous material.


The location tracker pocket 160 is defined by the dorsal side 114 of the body 110. The location tracker pocket 160 is configured to retain a location tracking device 162. Although the location tracking device 162 is included in the location tracker pocket 160 in FIGS. 1-5B, in some implementations, the glove does not include a location tracking device. In some implementations, the clove includes a location tracking device that is permanently coupled to the location tracker pocket. In some implementations, the glove does not include a location tracker pocket, and the glove includes an incorporated location tracking device that is either permanently or removably coupled to the glove. In some implementations, the glove does not include a location tracker.


The location tracking device 162 can utilize any type of location tracker, such as radio frequency identification (RFID), radio tracking, near-field communication (NFC), geofencing, internet tracking, cellphone triangulation, global positioning systems (GPS), satellite tracking, and/or any other location tracking technology known in the art.


The alarm 170 shown in FIGS. 1-5B includes a speaker 172, a strobe light 174, and a trigger 176 for causing the speaker 172 to generate a sound and the strobe light 174 to produce light. The alarm 170 is directly disposed on the finger portion 120 of the glove 100 shown in FIGS. 1-5B, but in some implementations, one or more of the portions of the alarm are coupled to any other portion of the glove. Although the glove 100 shown in FIGS. 1-5B includes a strobe light 174, in some implementations, the glove includes any other form of light. Although the glove 100 shown in FIGS. 1-5B includes a speaker 172, in some implementations, the glove includes other electronics configured to emit an audible or ultrasonic sound.


The alarm 170 can also include a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver 180 and/or amplifier. The Bluetooth transmitter/receiver 180, along with an amplifier if included, can send a Bluetooth signal to another Bluetooth compatible device. The Bluetooth signal from the Bluetooth transmitter/receiver 180 of the glove 100 can be configured to include data that can cause the other Bluetooth compatible device to perform certain functions.


For example, the Bluetooth signal from the Bluetooth transmitter/receiver 180 of the glove 100 can be configured to include data that can cause the other Bluetooth compatible device to record the current location data of the other Bluetooth compatible device, to begin tracking and recording the location data of the other Bluetooth compatible device, begin recording audio and/or video from the other Bluetooth compatible device, to send an SMS text, email, or other message from the other Bluetooth compatible device, place a phone call from the other Bluetooth compatible device, send data from the other Bluetooth compatible device to an external server for storage and/or analysis, and/or to perform any other emergency related or investigation related or adjacent functions of or from the other Bluetooth compatible device.


The Bluetooth transmitter 180 can be caused to send a signal to the other electronic device by actuation of the trigger 176 of the alarm 170. The trigger 176 shown in FIGS. 1-5B includes a pull tab that actuates an electrical switch, but in some implementations, the trigger can include a pressable button, a toggle switch, or any other mechanism for actuating an electrical switch known in the art.


The glove 100 can also include a battery 190 configured to provide electrical power to the speaker 172, the strobe light 174, the Bluetooth transmitter/receiver 180, any additional controls necessary for controlling the functions of the alarm 170, the location tracking device 162, and/or any other electronics of the glove 100. In some implementations, the glove does not include a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver. In some implementations, the glove does not include one or more of an alarm, a strobe light, or an alarm.


The glove 100 can also include an electrical charging port 192 for providing electrical power from an external source to one or more of the electronic devices and/or the battery 190 of the glove 100. The electrical charging port 192 shown in FIGS. 1-5B includes a USB-C port 192 in electrical communication with the battery 190 of the glove 100 and is configured to be electrically coupled to an external power source to cause electricity to flow to the batter 190 to charge the battery 190 with energy. However, in some implementations, the electrical charging port can include any other type of electrical port known in the art. In some implementations, the glove includes a wireless charging device which can have an electrical charge induced in the device such that electrical energy flows to the battery. In some implementations, the glove does not include an electrical charging port.



FIG. 6 shows a glove system 1000, according to one implementation. The system includes a lefthanded glove 100 and a righthanded glove 100′. Both gloves 100, 100′ include the features disclosed herein. However, in some implementations, one or both of the gloves does not include one or more features disclosed herein. In some implementations, one of the gloves in the glove system only includes a body and does not include any other features disclosed herein. In some implementations, the glove system includes some of the features disclosed herein on the righthanded glove and some of the features disclosed herein on the lefthanded glove. In some implementations, the righthanded glove and the lefthanded glove of the glove system both include one or more of the same feature.

As used in the specification, and in the appended claims, the singular forms “a,” “an,” “the” include plural referents unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Claims
  • 1. A glove comprising: a body having a palmar side and a dorsal side, wherein the glove defines four finger portions for accepting fingers of a human hand;a mirror disposed along an outer surface of the body;one or more spikes extending from the body;a location tracker pocket defined by the body and configured to retain a location tracking device; andan alarm including a trigger for causing the alarm to generate a sound.
  • 2. The glove of claim 1, wherein the mirror is disposed along the outer surface of the dorsal side of the body.
  • 3. The glove of claim 1, wherein the mirror comprises a flexible material.
  • 4. The glove of claim 1, wherein the mirror is removable.
  • 5. The glove of claim 1, wherein the mirror includes a flap coupled to the body of the glove and configured to be movable between a covering position in which the flap covers the mirror and an open position in which the mirror is uncovered.
  • 6. The glove of claim 1, wherein the one or more spikes comprises four spikes.
  • 7. The glove of claim 6, wherein each of the four spikes is disposed adjacent a different one of the four finger portions of the body.
  • 8. The glove of claim 1, wherein the one or more spikes extend directly from one or more of the four fingers.
  • 9. The glove of claim 1, wherein the one or more spikes extend from the palmar side of the body.
  • 10. The glove of claim 1, wherein the one or more spikes are removably coupled to the body.
  • 11. The glove of claim 1, wherein the one or more spikes comprise a non-ferrous material.
  • 12. The glove of claim 1, wherein the location tracker pocket is defined by the dorsal side of the body.
  • 13. The glove of claim 1, wherein the location tracker pocket further comprises the location tracking device, wherein the location tracking device is permanently coupled to the location tracker pocket.
  • 14. The glove of claim 1, wherein the alarm further includes a strobe light, wherein the trigger causes the strobe light to produce light.
  • 15. The glove of claim 1, wherein the trigger comprises a pressable button, wherein pressing the pressable button causes the alarm to generate the sound.
  • 16. The glove of claim 1, wherein the trigger is disposed directly on one of the four fingers of the body.
  • 17. The glove of claim 1, wherein the alarm further comprises a Bluetooth transmitter, wherein the trigger causes the Bluetooth transmitter to send a signal to another electronic device.
  • 18. The glove of claim 1, wherein the body defines an opening at the ends of at least one of the finger portions, wherein fingers of a user are configured to extend through the openings in use.
  • 19. The glove of claim 1, further comprising an electrical charging port.
  • 20. A glove system comprising: the glove of claim 1; anda second glove.
  • 21. The system of claim 20, wherein the second glove includes a body having a palmar side and a dorsal side, wherein the second glove defines four finger portions for accepting fingers of a second human hand, the second glove further including at least one of: a mirror disposed along an outer surface of the body of the second glove;one or more spikes extending from the body of the second glove;a location tracker pocket of the second glove; andan alarm including a trigger for causing the alarm to generate a sound.
