Claims
- 1. A self-inflatable apparatus comprising:a core of open pore foam having a predetermined shape; a dual melt temperature laminate film surrounding said foam, said film having a first surface S1 having a first melting temperature T1 and a first softening temperature, and a second surface S2 having a second melting temperature T2 lower than T1 and a second softening temperature, and wherein at approximately said second melting temperature T2 said second surface S2 has at least partially melted and attached itself to the exterior surface of said core, and said first surface S1 has softened and conformed to said predetermined shape of said core and stretches and moves with said core; and, a valve means passing through said film for selectively communicating air from the outside of said apparatus to said foam core.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein second surface of said film is attached to substantially the entire exterior surface of said foam core.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein said foam core is formed from at least a first and a second foam material and wherein said first foam material has a greater density than said second foam material.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 3 wherein said first foam material surrounds said second foam material.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4 wherein said valve means comprises a one-way valve.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5 wherein said valve means comprises an oral inflation valve.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein said apparatus comprises a mattress.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 2 further comprising:at least a second self-inflatable apparatus; and, communication means for selectively permitting air to pass between said second self-inflatable apparatus and said first self-inflatable apparatus.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 2 further comprising:a fabric material adhered to said surface S1.
