Claims
- 1. A self-locking blind fastener comprising a nut having:
- an enlarged head;
- a tubular shank attached to said head;
- internal threading in said tubular shank; and
- an axial section of said shank having a single arcuate inwardly depressed zone extending over only a single minor circumferential sector of said axial section of said shank, said depressed zone defining a protruberant zone of said internal threading for resisting movement of a bolt threaded in said shank, wherein a radius of curvature of said depressed zone about the axis of said shank is greater than that of the external surface of said shank, and wherein there are at least two of said arcuate zones spaced along the length of said shank.
- 2. The blind fastener of claim 1 wherein the curvature of said arcuate depressed zone has the same sense as said shank.
- 3. The blind fastener of claim 1 wherein all of said arcuate zones are in the same circumferential sector of said shank.
- 4. The blind fastener of claim 1 wherein at least one of said arcuate zones is in a circumferential sector of said shank different from a circumferential sector of at least one other one of said arcuate zones.
- 5. The blind fastener of claim 1 wherein said axial section of said shank is substantially cylindrical.
