Claims
- 1. A paperboard container configured for manual set up, wherein the container has a bottom wall, opposite side walls, opposite end walls, and a self locking arrangement on the end walls for holding the container in an erected condition, comprising:
first and second end panels on opposite ends of the side walls, and a third end panel on opposite ends of the bottom wall, said end panels forming the end walls of the container; the first and second end panels having at least one notch formed in an upper edge; a roll over flap foldably joined by at least one web to an upper edge of each of the third end panels and folded inwardly and downwardly over the upper edges of the first and second end panels, said at least one web having a width substantially less than the width of said third end panel, and said at least one web engaged in said at least one notch; and said web having a thickness less than the thickness of an end panel, whereby it fits deeply into said at least one notch, producing a tight fit and reliable interlocking of the components of the self locking arrangement.
- 2. A container as claimed in claim 1, wherein:
the container has six sides, including said side and end walls, and two mitered corners.
- 3. A container as claimed in claim 2, wherein:
there are bag cuff grab means on each of two diagonally opposite mitered corners.
- 4. A container as claimed in claim 1, wherein:
the end panels overlap one another.
- 5. A container as claimed in claim 1, wherein:
the web is crushed to reduce its thickness.
- 6. A container as claimed in claim 1, wherein:
the container has seven sides, including said side and end walls, and three mitered corners.
- 7. A container as claimed in claim 6, wherein:
bag cuff grab means is on at least one mitered corner.
- 8. A container as claimed in claim 1, wherein:
the container has eight sides, with two opposite parallel side walls, two opposite parallel end walls, and four mitered corners.
- 9. A container as claimed in claim 8, wherein:
bag cuff grab means is on at least one mitered corner.
- 10. A container as claimed in claim 7, wherein:
bag cuff grab means are on more than one mitered corner.
- 11. A container as claimed in claim 1, wherein:
only some of the end panels overlap one another.
- 12. A container as claimed in claim 1, wherein:
there are a plurality of webs connecting the roll over flap to the third end panel.
- 13. A container as claimed in claim 12, wherein:
each end panel is joined to its respective side or end wall along a fold line; and each web has opposite sides and opposite ends, the opposite ends being defined by a pair of spaced fold lines extending parallel to the fold line connecting the third end panel to the bottom wall.
