Claims
- 1. A waste bin manager for housing at least one waste bin in a cabinet having a door, said waste bin manager comprising:
a first elongated slide adapted to be mounted within the cabinet; a second elongated slide adapted to be mounted within the cabinet, said second elongated slide being spaced apart from, and oriented generally parallel to, said first elongated slide; a wire harness positioned between, and attached to, said first and second elongated slides, said wire harness adapted to hold a waste bin; a clip attached to said wire harness; and a spring having a first end attached to said clip and a second end attached to the cabinet, said spring adapted to pull against said wire harness such that the first and second elongated slides, as well as the wire harness and door, are pulled at least partially out of the cabinet when the cabinet is opened.
- 2. The manager of claim 1, wherein said wire harness is adapted to exert a biasing force against a waste bin held by said wire harness.
- 3. The manager of claim 1, wherein said first end of said spring is inserted into said clip in one orientation and rotated to a second orientation to thereby couple said spring to said clip.
- 4. The manager of claim 1, wherein said clip is adapted to attach to a first wire and a second wire in said wire harness adjacent an intersection of said first and second wires.
- 5. The manager of claim 4, wherein said first and second wires intersect each other at a right angle.
- 6. The manager of claim 1, wherein said clip includes a first set of arms that are adapted to wrap at least partially around a first wire in said wire harness and a second set of arms that are adapted to wrap at least partially around a second wire in said wire harness.
- 7. The manager of claim 1 further including a foot-operated mechanism adapted to release the door from the cabinet.
- 8. The manager of claim 7, wherein said foot-operated mechanism includes a lever, a plate, and a magnet, one of said plate and said magnet being attached to the door and the other of said plate and magnet being attached to the cabinet, said lever positioned to cause separation between said plate and said magnet when said lever is rotated.
- 9. The manager of claim 9, wherein said magnet is attached to said lever.
- 10. The manager of claim 9, wherein said lever includes a generally flat, bottom surface that a user may push upward against in order to cause the lever to separate said plate and said magnet.
- 11. The manager of claim 1, wherein said first and second elongated slides are telescoping slides.
- 12. The manager of claim 1, wherein said second end of the spring is attached to a wall of the cabinet.
- 13. The manager of claim 12, wherein said spring is oriented substantially completely in a horizontal plane.
- 14. The manager of claim 1, wherein said clip is attached to the wire harness adjacent the first elongated slide, and said second end of the spring is attached to a wall of the cabinet adjacent the second elongated slide.
- 15. The manager of claim 1, wherein said spring extends substantially the entire distance across the space between the first and second slides.
- 16. The manager of claim 1, wherein said clip is positioned underneath a waste bin positioned within said wire harness.
- 17. The manager of claim 1, wherein said first and second elongated slides are both attached to the cabinet door.
- 18. The manager of claim 17, wherein the door is attached only to said first and second elongated slides.
- 19. The manager of claim 1, wherein said first and second elongated slides are positioned underneath a waste bin positioned within said wire harness.
- 20. A waste bin manager for housing at least one waste bin in a cabinet having a door, said waste bin manager comprising:
a slide mechanism adapted to move between a retracted position within the cabinet and an extended position at least partially outside of the cabinet; a waste bin holder supported by said slide mechanism, said waste bin holder adapted to hold a waste bin; a clip at said waste bin holder; and a spring having a first end attached to said clip and a second end attached to the cabinet, said spring adapted to exert a force against said waste bin holder such that the slide mechanism is moved at least partially out of the cabinet when the cabinet is opened.
- 21. The manager of claim 20, wherein said clip is made of plastic and is adapted to releasably grip a tubular wire on said waste bin holder.
- 22. The manager of claim 20, wherein said clip is positioned underneath a waste bin positioned within said waste bin holder.
- 23. The manager of claim 20, further comprising a door, said slide mechanism including a pair of slides, each slide including a stationary member mounted to said cabinet and an extendable member mounted to said door.
- 24. The manager of claim 20, wherein said slide mechanism is mounted at or near a bottom wall of said cabinet.
- 25. The manager of claim 23, further comprising a release mechanism, when actuated said release mechanism releasing said door from a closed position wherein said door, said extendable rails, and said waste bin holder are urged to extend at least partially from said cabinet.
- 26. The manager of claim 25, wherein said release mechanism comprises a foot-operated mechanism.
- 27. The manager of claim 25, wherein said release mechanism includes lever, a plate, and a magnet, one of said plate and said magnet being attached to the door and the other of said plate and said magnet being attached to the cabinet, said lever positioned to cause separation between said plate and said magnet and said lever is rotated to thereby release said door from said closed position.
- 28. The manager of claim 27, wherein said plate is mounted to said door and said magnet is mounted to said cabinet.
- 29. The manager of claim 28, wherein said plate is mounted to a lower end of said door, and said magnet is mounted to a base of said cabinet.
- 30. The manager of claim 20, wherein said clip is attached to said waste bin holder.
- 31. The manager of claim 30, wherein said clip is releasably attached to said waste bin holder.
