Claims
- 1. A reconfigurable antenna system, comprising:a three-dimensional object having an outer surface; an antenna pattern supported on the surface, the pattern including a plurality of segments and electrically operated switches for interconnecting the segments; and electrical circuitry for operating the switches on a selective basis as a function of the physical orientation of the object.
- 2. The antenna system of claim 1, wherein the object is a polyhedron.
- 3. The antenna system of claim 2, wherein the polyhedron is an icosahedron.
- 4. The antenna system of claim 1, wherein the antenna pattern is of the fractal type.
- 5. The antenna system of claim 1, wherein the antenna pattern is a Sierpinski gasket.
- 6. The antenna system of claim 1, wherein:the pattern has one or more feed points; and the electrical circuitry is used to change a feed point as a function of the physical orientation of the object.
- 7. The antenna system of claim 1, wherein the electrical circuitry includes one or more switches to alter the antenna pattern as a function of the physical orientation of the object.
