Claims
- 1. A gun configured to fire paintballs, the gun comprising:
a frame for supporting the gun; a magazine securable to the frame for containing a propellant and projectile, the propellant and projectile being separately loadable into the magazine; a barrel secured to the frame for accelerating the projectile, and having a chamber for receiving the projectile prior to the acceleration; and an action secured to the frame and comprising a bolt for controlling feeding of the projectile from the magazine into the chamber and for controlling discharge of propellant providing impetus to the projectile.
- 2. The gun of claim 1, wherein the magazine is a single integrated monolith, removable from the gun for charging with propellant and projectiles.
- 3. The gun of claim 2, wherein the magazine further comprises a reservoir for containing the propellant, the magazine being removable while maintaining the reservoir sealed against loss of propellant.
- 4. The gun of claim 3, wherein the magazine further comprises a projectile store, the magazine being removable while maintaining the projectile store closed against release of projectiles therefrom.
- 5. The gun of claim 4, wherein the projectile store is removable from the gun independently from the reservoir, while leaving the reservoir operably connected to the gun.
- 6. The gun of claim 1, further comprising a trigger operably connected to the frame for controlling movement of the action, and wherein the action is further configured to feed a single projectile to the chamber for each complete cycle of motion of the trigger.
- 7. The gun of claim 1, wherein the bolt is configured to be dual-action for both loading projectiles into the chamber and for controlling discharge of propellant in a single operational cycle of the bolt.
- 8. The gun of claim 1, wherein the magazine is configured to hold a plurality of projectiles, and wherein the action includes a bolt comprising an integrated impeller portion and valve portion for controlling, respectively, loading the projectile of the plurality of projectiles into the chamber and flow of propellant from the magazine to the barrel.
- 9. The gun of claim 1, wherein the action further comprises an integrated bolt configured to dynamically control a flow of propellant from the magazine, into a gas chamber, and past the bolt for powering motion of a projectile.
- 10. The gun of claim 1, wherein the frame is configured as a sidearm, and wherein the magazine is configured to fit in a handle adapted for holding by a single hand of a user.
- 11. A gun configured to accelerate a destructible, comparatively harmless, projectile at a person, for leaving a temporary mark of pigment thereon, the gun comprising:
a frame for supporting the gun; a magazine selectively securable to the frame for storing projectiles; and an action secured to the frame for controlling feeding of the projectiles from the magazine individually into the chamber and for controlling a substantially limited discharge of propellant for each individual projectile, for providing impetus to the individual projectile.
- 12. The gun of claim 11, wherein the magazine further contains the propellant, the propellant and projectiles being separately loadable into the magazine.
- 13. The gun of claim 12, further comprising a barrel secured to the frame for accelerating the projectile, and having a chamber for selectively holding the projectile while a user affirmatively decides to fire the projectile.
- 14. The gun of claim 13, wherein the magazine is removable from the gun as a monolith, for charging with propellant and projectiles.
- 15. The gun of claim 14 the magazine further comprises a reservoir for containing the propellant, the magazine being removable while maintaining the reservoir sealed against loss of propellant.
- 16. The gun of claim 15, wherein the magazine further comprises a projectile store, the magazine being removable while maintaining the projectile store closed against release of projectiles therefrom.
- 17. The gun of claim 16, wherein the projectile store is removable from the gun independently from the reservoir, while leaving the reservoir operably connected to the gun.
- 18. The gun of claim 17, further comprising a trigger operably connected to the frame for controlling movement of the action, and wherein the action is further configured to feed a single projectile to the chamber for each complete cycle of motion of the trigger.
- 19. The gun of claim 18, wherein the bolt is configured to be dual-action for both loading projectiles into the chamber and for controlling discharge of propellant in a single operational cycle of the bolt.
- 20. The gun of claim 19, wherein the frame is configured as a sidearm, and wherein the magazine is configured to fit in a handle adapted for holding by a single hand of a user.
