Claims
- 1. An isolated nucleic acid encoding a polypeptide at least 80% identical to SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 2. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 3. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 1, comprising SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 5, SEQ ID NO: 7, SEQ ID NO: 9 or SEQ ID NO: 11.
- 4. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 1, wherein the nucleic acid encodes a receptor that has G-coupled protein receptor activity.
- 5. An isolated nucleic acid encoding an extracellular domain of a G-protein coupled receptor, the extracellular domain having at least 80% amino acid sequence identity to the extracellular domain of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10, or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 6. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 5, wherein the extracellular domain comprises the extracellular domain of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10, or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 7. An isolated nucleic acid encoding a transmembrane domain of a G-protein coupled receptor, the transmembrane domain comprising at least 80% amino acid sequence identity to the transmembrane domain of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 8. The isolated nucleic acid of claim 7, wherein the transmembrane domain comprises the transmembrane domain of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10, or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 9. An isolated polypeptide comprising a polypeptide sequence at least 80% identical to SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 10. The isolated polypeptide of claim 9, wherein the polypeptide is selected from SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 11. The isolated polypeptide of claim 9, wherein the receptor has G-protein coupled receptor activity.
- 12. An isolated polypeptide comprising an extracellular domain of a G-protein coupled receptor, the extracellular domain comprising at least 80% amino acid sequence identity to the extracellular domain of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 13. The isolated polypeptide of claim 12, wherein the extracellular domain is the extracellular domain of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 14. An isolated polypeptide comprising a transmembrane domain of a G-protein coupled receptor, the transmembrane domain comprising at least 80% amino acid sequence identity to the transmembrane domain of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 15. The isolated polypeptide of claim 14, wherein the extracellular domain is the extracellular domain of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 16. A host cell comprising a heterologous polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide at least 80% identical to SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 17. The host cell of claim 16, wherein the polypeptide comprises SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 18. The host cell of claim 16, wherein the polynucleotide comprises SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 5, SEQ ID NO: 7, SEQ ID NO: 9 or SEQ ID NO: 11.
- 19. The host cell of claim 16, wherein the host cell is selected from a COS cell, a CHO cell or a human embryonic kidney 293 cell.
- 20. The host cell of claim 16, wherein the host cell is a eukaryotic cell.
- 21. The host cell of claim 16, wherein the host cell is a prokaryotic cell.
- 22. An antibody that selectively binds to the polypeptide of claim 10.
- 23. An expression vector comprising the nucleic acid of claim 1.
- 24. An expression vector comprising the nucleic acid of claim 5.
- 25. An expression vector comprising the nucleic acid of claim 7.
- 26. A method for identifying a compound that modulates pain, the method comprising the steps of: (i) contacting a compound with a polypeptide comprising an extracellular domain of a G-protein coupled receptor, the extracellular domain comprising at least 80% amino acid sequence identity to the extracellular domain of SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12; and (ii) selecting a compound that binds to the extracellular domain or that modulates G-protein coupled receptor activity of the polypeptide.
- 27. The method of claim 26, further comprising administering the selected compound to an animal and determining the effect of the compound on pain sensitivity.
- 28. The method of claim 26, wherein the polypeptide is a s G-protein coupled receptor, the receptor comprising at least 80% amino acid identity to SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 29. The method of claim 28, wherein the polypeptide is SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO; 4, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 10 or SEQ ID NO: 12.
- 30. The method of claim 26, wherein the polypeptide has G-protein coupled receptor activity.
- 31. The method of claim 26, wherein the polypeptide is linked to a solid phase.
- 32. The method of claim 26, wherein the polypeptide is expressed in a cell and the cell is contacted with the compound.
- 33. The method of claim 32, wherein the G-protein coupled receptor activity of the polypeptide is determined by measuring changes in intracellular cAMP, IP3, or Ca2+.
- 34. The method of claim 26, wherein the method comprises selecting a compound that binds to the polypeptide.
