Claims
- 1. A print apparatus comprising:
- conveying means for conveying a recording material in two opposite directions;
- a carriage on which recording means for recording on the recording material is mounted, said carriage moving orthogonally with respect to the recording material;
- memory means for storing recording information for a plurality of lines, said recording information contained in said memory means comprising character information, character pitch information, line pitch information, and line break information;
- indicating means for indicating that said recording means is opposite to a character recorded before a character to which said recording means is presently opposite;
- discriminating means for discriminating whether the recording information of said recorded character is the line break information the basis of the indication by said indicating means;
- control means for controlling said conveying means and said carriage so that said recording means is opposite to a character recorded before a previous line on the basis of said character pitch information and said line pitch information, when said discriminating means discriminates that the recording information is the line break information and for controlling said carriage so that said recording means is opposite to a character recorded before a current line on the basis of said character pitch information when said discriminating means discriminates that the recording information is not the line break information;
- correcting means for correcting said recorded character; and
- updating means for updating the recording information of said recorded character corrected by said correcting means.
- 2. A print apparatus according to claim 1, wherein during the correcting operation said recording means is moved to a correcting position from the current position, wherein said apparatus further comprises means for controlling said conveying means and said recording means such that said recording means is moved from a correcting position back to the current position, in response to performance of a correcting operation.
- 3. A print apparatus according to claim 1, wherein after the correction is made by said correcting means a character inputted by inputting means at said corrected position is printed, while character information corresponding to said inputted character is stored at a position corresponding to said position information of said memory means.
- 4. A print apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said recording means comprises a type wheel and a correction tape.
- 5. A print apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said indicating means is a back trace key.
- 6. A print apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said correcting means comprises a correcting key upon the actuation of which a character printed at a current position of said recording means is erased.
- 7. A print apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a keyboard by which the character information is inputted, and a display which displays the character information inputted by said keyboard.
- 8. A print apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said control means controls said conveying means and said carriage so that said recording means is opposite to the last character of the previous line, when said recording means receives the indication of said indicating means at a position opposite to the first character of a current line.
- 9. A method of controlling an apparatus comprising conveying means for conveying a recording material in two opposite directions, a carriage on which recording means for recording on the recording material is mounted, and memory means for storing recording information for a plurality of lines, the recording information comprising character information, character pitch information, line pitch information, and line break information, said method comprising the steps of:
- conveying the recording material in two opposite directions with conveying means;
- moving the carriage orthogonally with respect to the recording material;
- indicating that the recording means is opposite to a character recorded before a character to which the recording means is presently opposite;
- discriminating whether the recording information of the recorded character is the line break information on the basis of the indication by said indicating step;
- controlling the conveying means and the carriage so that the recording means is opposite to the character recorded in the previous line on the basis of said character pitch information and the line pitch information, when said discriminating step discriminates that the recording information is the line break information and for controlling said carriage so that the recording means is opposite to a character recorded before a current line on the basis of the character pitch information when said discriminating step discriminates that the recording information is not the line break information;
- correcting the recorded character; and
- updating the recording information of the recorded character corrected by said correcting step.
- 10. A method according to claim 9, wherein during said correcting step, the recording means is moved to a correcting position from the current position, wherein said method further comprises a step of controlling the conveying means and the recording means such that the recording means is moved from a correcting position back to the current position in response to the performance of said correcting step.
- 11. A method according to claim 9, wherein after the correction is made in said correcting step, a character inputted by inputting means at the corrected position is printed, while character information corresponding to the inputted character is stored at a position corresponding to the position information of the memory means.
- 12. A method according to claim 9, wherein the recording means comprises a type wheel and a correction tape.
- 13. A method according to claim 9, wherein said indicating step is performed by a back trace key.
- 14. A method according to claim 9, further comprising the steps of inputting the character information with a keyboard and displaying the character information inputted by the keyboard with a display.
- 15. A method according to claim 9, wherein said controlling step controls the conveying means and the carriage so that the recording means is opposite to the last character of the previous line, when the recording means receives the indication of said indicating step at a position opposite to the first character of a current line.
- 16. A method according to claim 9, wherein said correcting step comprises the step of performing the correcting with a correcting key upon the actuation of which a character printed at a current position of the recording means is erased.
