Claims
- 1. A shampoo composition comprising:
a) from about 5 to about 50 weight percent of a detersive surfactant, b) at least about 0.1 weight percent of particles having a mean particle size of less than about 300 microns, c) at least about 0.05 weight percent of a cationic polymer having a molecular weight of from about 10,000 to about 10,000,000 and a charge density from about 0.9 meq/gm to about 7.0 meq/gm, and d) at least about 20.0 weight percent of an aqueous carrier; wherein said particles are selected from the group consisting of hollow particles, solid particles and combinations thereof.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein said cationic polymer has a molecular weight of from about 50,000 to about 5,000,000.
- 3. The composition of claim 1 wherein said cationic polymer has a molecular weight of from about 100,000 to about 3,000,000.
- 4. The composition of claim 1 wherein said cationic polymer has a charge density of from about 1.2 meq/gm to about 7 meq/gm.
- 5. The composition of claim 1 wherein said cationic polymer has a charge density of from about 1.5 meq/gm to about 5 meq/gm.
- 6. The composition of claim 1 comprising from about 0.05 weight percent to about 3 weight percent of said cationic polymer.
- 7. The composition of claim 1 comprising from about 0.075 weight percent to about 2 weight percent of said cationic polymer.
- 8. The composition of claim 1 comprising from about 0.1 weight percent to about 1.0 weight percent of said cationic polymer.
- 9. The composition of claim 1 wherein the weight ratio of said cationic polymer to said particles is from about 2:1 to about 1:30.
- 10. The composition of claim 1 wherein the weight ratio of said cationic polymer to said particles is from about 1:1 to about 1:20.
- 11. The composition of claim 1 wherein the weight ratio of said cationic polymer to said particles is from about 1:2 to about 1:10.
- 12. The composition of claim 1 wherein said particles have a mean particle size of from about 1 micron to about 300 microns.
- 13. The composition of claim 1 wherein said particles have a mean particle size of from about 1 micron to about 80 microns.
- 14. The composition of claim 1 wherein said particles have a mean particle size of from about 2 microns to about 80 microns.
- 15. The composition of claim 1 wherein said particles have a mean particle size of from about 3 microns to about 80 microns.
- 16. A shampoo composition for improving the appearance of volume in hair comprising:
a) from about 5 to about 50 weight percent of a detersive surfactant, b) at least about 0.1 weight percent of particles having a mean particle size of less than about 300 microns, c) at least about 0.05 weight percent of a cationic polymer having a molecular weight of from about 10,000 to about 10,000,000 and a charge density from about 0.9 meq/gm to about 7.0 meq/gm, and d) at least about 20.0 weight percent of an aqueous carrier; wherein said particles are selected from the group consisting of hollow particles, solid particles and combinations thereof, and further, wherein after treatment with said composition, said hair demonstrates a friction coefficient of from about 1 to about 2 and has a hair feel rating of at least about 8.
- 17. The composition of claim 16 wherein, after treatment with said composition, said hair demonstrates a friction coefficient of from about 1.1 to about 1.7 and has a hair feel rating of at least about 6.
- 18. The composition of claim 16 wherein said particles have a mean particle size of from about 2 microns to about 80 microns.
- 19. A method of treating hair by administering a safe and effective amount of the composition according to claim 1.
- 20. A method of treating hair by administering a safe and effective amount of the composition according to claim 16.
