Claims
- 1. A flat-woven tubular implantable prosthesis having a plurality of warp yarns and fill yarns, said tubular prosthesis comprising first and second open ends defining a tubular wall therebetween, said tubular wall havinga first woven extent with a first selected number of warp yarns therealong interwoven with a first selected number of fill yarns to define a first tubular portion having an internal diameter therealong; and transitioning from said first woven extend, a second woven extent contiguous with said first woven extent with at least a second selected number of warp yarns therealong interwoven with a second selected number of fill yarns defining a change in the number of warp yarns to define at least a second tubular internal diameter which is different from said first tubular internal diameter, said change in the number of warp yarns being at an edge of said transitional second woven extent, wherein adjacent warp yarns are not interwoven with successive fill yarns.
- 2. The prosthesis of claim 1, further comprising:a third woven extent contiguous with said transitional second woven extent, said third woven extent having a third selected number of warp yarns, which is different from said first and said at least second selected number of warp yarns, interwoven with a third selected number of fill yarns, said third woven extent defining a third tubular portion having an internal diameter therealong which is different from said first tubular internal diameter and said at least second tubular internal diameter.
- 3. The prosthesis of claim 2, wherein said first selected number of fill yarns equals said third number of fill yarns.
- 4. The prosthesis of claim 2, wherein said first selected number of fill yarns is different from said third number of fill yarns.
- 5. The prosthesis of claim 2, further including a plurality of said third tubular walls each contiguously woven with said second extent.
- 6. The prosthesis of claim 5, wherein said second woven extent is a woven crotch.
- 7. The prosthesis of claim 5, wherein said plurality of third tubular walls is a pair of third tubular walls defining a bifurcated structure.
- 8. The prosthesis of claim 7, wherein said bifurcated structure includes said pair of said third tubular walls of different diameters.
- 9. The prosthesis of claim 7, wherein said bifurcated structure includes said pair of third tubular walls of equal diameter.
- 10. The prosthesis of claim 1, wherein said first selected number of fill yarns equals said second number of fill yarns.
- 11. The prosthesis of claim 1, wherein up to three adjacent warp yarns of said transitional second woven extent are not interwoven with at least two successive fill yarns of said transitional second woven extent.
- 12. The prosthesis of claim 1, wherein said warp and fill yarns include materials selected from the group consisting of polyester, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyurethane, polytetrafluoroethylene and combinations thereof.
- 13. The prosthesis of claim 1, further including a stent affixed thereto.
- 14. The prosthesis of claim 1, wherein said second woven section is inwardly tapered.
- 15. The prosthesis of claim 1, wherein said second woven section is outwardly flared.
- 16. The prosthesis of claim 1, wherein said internal diameter of said first tubular portion is substantially constant.
- 17. The prosthesis of claim 1, wherein said internal diameter of said first tubular portion is varied along a length thereof.
