Claims
- 1. A fastener mounting clip for securing a fastener in a hole, the sheet metal having a hole extending between an upper surface and a lower surface, the hole having four corners, said mounting clip comprising:
a base portion having a threaded aperture to receive the fastener; a pair of opposed arms extended from the base to engage a top surface of said sheet material; at least two engagement portions extending on opposite sides of base to engage and underside of said sheet metal adjacent said corners of said aperture, said wedge portions resiliently deformable to permit insertion of said clip to said hole.
- 2. The fastener mounting clip of claim 1 wherein the engagement portion extends from a retaining formed in a loop.
- 3. The fastener mounting clip of claim 1 formed of a single piece of sheet material.
- 4. The fastener mounting clip of claim 1 wherein the planar surface is rectilinear.
- 5. The fastener mounting clip of claim 1 wherein the engagement portions are wedge shaped.
- 6. The fastener mounting clip of claim 5 wherein the obtuse angle is between 95 and 110 degrees.
- 7. The fastener mounting clip of claim 1 wherein the free ends of the guide arms are V-shaped.
- 8. The fastener mounting clip of claim 1 wherein the clip is comprised of a retaining portion and a carrier portion.
- 9. The fastener assembly of said claim 8 wherein the retaining portion has at least two engagement portions for engaging the underside of the sheet metal at the corners.
- 10. The fastener clip of claim 9 wherein the carrier portion has a pair of arms for engaging the upper surface of the sheet metal and the threaded portion.
- 11. The fastener clip of claim 9 wherein the engagement portions are wedge shaped.
