Claims
- 1. Apparatus for processing a sheet of material such as sheets of cardboard for the manufacture of folding boxes or the like comprising:
- a table plate;
- a stamping plate having die means for forming bend lines fixed to said table plate;
- said stamping plate carrying a cardboard plate on an upper surface above said die means;
- a chase structure movable relative to said stamping plate;
- means for defining a folding box pattern including cut lines and bend lines;
- said pattern defining means being surrounded by said chase structure and carrying at least one member for forming said bend lines and at least one tool for forming said cut lines;
- a beam member extending over the table plate at a spacing therefrom and disposed movably thereabove.
- a carriage movable in a direction transverse with respect to the direction of movement of said beam member;
- at least one vertically movable pressure member carried on said carriage; and
- each said pressure member comprising a ram head operatively directed towards said pattern defining means and said die means whereby pressure is applied against said pattern defining means so that said defining means can press said plate against said die means for producing said cut lines and said bend lines on said cardboard plate.
- 2. Apparatus as set forth in claim 2, wherein said head comprises a roller having a peripheral surface thereby adapted to produce said cut lines and said bending lies on said cardboard plate.
- 3. Apparatus as set forth in claim 2 wherein said roller is rotatable about an axis in said pressure member, and including an actuating means for vertically moving said pressure member.
- 4. Apparatus as set forth in claim 3 wherein said actuating means is a piston-cylinder unit.
- 5. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 and including a support structure providing side portions, wherein said beam member has track means for guiding said carriage.
- 6. Apparatus as set forth in claim 5 wherein said side portions include elongate guide tracks, and wherein said beam member is mounted on said guide tracks by means of rolling members.
- 7. Apparatus as set forth in claim 6 wherein said guide tracks comprise grooves formed in respective ones of said side portions and facing towards each other.
- 8. Apparatus as set forth in claim 7 wherein said rolling members comprise side plate assemblies carrying rollers engaging into said mutually facing grooves.
- 9. Apparatus as set forth in claim 5 wherein said guide track means comprises a lower portion of said beam member.
- 10. Apparatus as set forth in claim 9 wherein said carriage is mounted on said guide track means by roller means.
- 11. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 and further including an actuator means for displacing said carriage along said beam member.
- 12. Apparatus as set forth in claim 11 wherein said actuator means comprises an endless elongated actuating means, and an actuating wheel adapted to displace said elongate actuating means in a closed-loop movement, a portion of said carriage being connected to said elongate actuating means for moving said carriage.
- 13. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein each said pressure member further comprises a piston cylinder means operable in a direction towards said table plate.
- 14. Apparatus as set forth in claim 5 wherein said beam member further comprises control means at respective ends thereof, operable to engage with control means on said side portions for guiding said beam member in a condition of parallelism with respect to itself during movement thereof.
- 15. Apparatus as set forth in claim 5 wherein operation of at least one of said beam member and said pressure member is computer-controlled.
