Claims
- 1. A shelf assembly for organizing and merchandising a plurality of products, said shelf assembly comprising:a generally inclined gravity feed shelf, a plurality of dividers extending from front to back on said shelf, an adjacent pair of said dividers and said shelf defining a track, said track supporting a plurality of products arranged in a column, and a front stop member supported by said pair of dividers, said front stop member being pivotal about a horizontal axis and adapted to abut a forwardmost one of said products in said column, said horizontal axis being positioned such that as said forwardmost one of said products is removed from said track by pulling a top portion of said forwardmost one of said products over said front member, said front member is caused to pivot about said horizontal axis and move a top edge of said front member forwardly so as to enable said forwardmost one of said products to be moved forwardly over said front stop member.
- 2. The shelf assembly of claim 1 wherein said front member is caused to return to its original position upon a product behind said forwardmost one of said products sliding forwardly on said shelf and contacting said front member.
- 3. The shelf assembly of claim 1 wherein said front member comprises a piece of wire and an arcuate member.
- 4. A shelf assembly for organizing and merchandising a plurality of products, said shelf assembly comprising:a generally inclined gravity feed shelf, a plurality of dividers extending from front to back on said shelf, an adjacent pair of said dividers and said shelf defining a track, said track supporting a plurality of products arranged in a column, and a front member supported by said adjacent pair of dividers, said front member being pivotal about a horizontal axis and functioning to prevent product from falling off a front edge of said shelf, whereby upon a forwardmost product in said column of products being pulled over said front member said top and bottom edges of said front member are caused to rotate about said horizontal axis.
- 5. The shelf assembly of claim 4 wherein said top edge of said front member rotates in front of said horizontal axis and said bottom edge of said front member rotates behind said horizontal axis when said forwardmost one of said products is removed from said track.
- 6. The shelf assembly of claim 4 wherein said horizontal axis is located above said shelf.
- 7. A shelf assembly comprising:a generally inclined gravity feed shelf, a plurality of dividers, an adjacent pair of said dividers and said shelf bottom defining a track for supporting a plurality of products arranged in a column between the pair of adjacent dividers; and a front member supported above said shelf and at the front of said shelf, said front member being pivotal about a horizontal axis and having top and bottom edges located respectively above and below said horizontal axis such that upon a forwardmost one of said products being pulled over said horizontal axis from said track, said front member is caused to pivot about said horizontal axis, and in the course thereof, said bottom edge of said front member is moved rearwardly in said track and said top edge of said front member is moved forwardly.
- 8. The shelf assembly of claim 7 wherein said front member has a concave inner surface and a convex outer surface.
- 9. The shelf assembly of claim 7 wherein said dividers are planar.
- 10. The shelf assembly of claim 7 wherein said front member is generally arcuate.
- 11. The shelf assembly of claim 7 wherein said dividers are adjustable on said shelf.
- 12. The shelf assembly of claim 7 wherein said dividers have holes therethrough adapted to receive a portion of said front member.
- 13. The shelf assembly of claim 7 wherein said front member has wires received within holes in said dividers.
- 14. A shelf assembly comprising:a generally inclined gravity feed shelf, an adjacent pair of dividers extending from front to back on said shelf, said adjacent pair of dividers and said shelf defining a track for supporting a plurality of products arranged in a column extending from front to back on said shelf generally parallel said dividers, a front member pivotal about a horizontal axis, said front member being pivotally engaged with said adjacent pair of dividers, said front member having a concave inner surface adapted to abut a forwardmost one of said products and prevent said forwardmost one of said products from moving forwardly until a forwardmost one of said products is pulled over said front member, thereby causing a top edge of said front member to move forwardly and downwardly relative to said horizontal axis.
- 15. The shelf assembly of claim 14 wherein upon said forwardmost one of said products being removed from said track another product slides forward in said track, contacting said front member and causing said front member to return to its original position.
- 16. The shelf assembly of claim 14 wherein said front member is arcuate.
- 17. A display rack comprising a plurality of shelf assemblies, each of said shelf assemblies comprising a shelf and a plurality of dividers, an adjacent pair of said dividers and said shelf defining a track for supporting a plurality of products arranged in a column between the adjacent pair of dividers; and a front member supported by said adjacent pair of dividers, whereby upon a forwardmost one of said products being pulled over said front member, said front member is caused to pivot about a horizontal axis.
- 18. A shelf assembly comprising:a plurality of dividers extending from front to back, a wire stop extending between and fixedly secured to an adjacent pair of said dividers, a front member having top and bottom edges and being pivotally engaged with said wire stop such that as a forwardmost product within a column of products is removed by pulling a top portion of said forwardmost product over said wire stop, said front member is caused to rotate about a horizontal axis such that said top edge of said front member moves forwardly.
- 19. The shelf assembly of claim 18 wherein said front member has a concave inner surface.
- 20. The shelf assembly of claim 18 wherein said horizontal axis is defined by a portion of said stop.
- 21. A display rack for organizing and merchandising a plurality of products, said display rack comprising:a base, posts extending upwardly from said base, at least one shelf assembly secured to said posts, said shelf assembly comprising a shelf, a plurality of dividers supported above said shelf, an adjacent pair of said dividers and said shelf defining a track, said track supporting a plurality of products arranged in a column, and a front member supported by said adjacent pair of dividers, said front member being pivotal about a horizontal axis whereby upon a forwardmost one of said products being removed by pulling a top portion of said forwardmost one of said products over said front member, said front member is caused to pivot about said horizontal axis such that a top edge of said front member moves forwardly and a bottom edge of said front member moves rearwardly.
- 22. The display rack of claim 21 wherein said front member is arcuate so as to receive a beverage container.
- 23. The display rack of claim 21 wherein said front member comprises a piece of wire and an arcuate member.
