Field of the Invention
This invention relates generally to garment protectors and, more particularly, to a sleeved bib that is attachable to a wearer's shirt and which includes sleeve structures suitable to be selectively detached.
Description of the Prior Art
The use and design of conventional bibs as garment protectors that are hung from the neck over the chest to protect clothing from spilled food is well known. Conventional bibs are commonly worn by babies as well as by adults in certain circumstances to protect their clothing from spills while eating or drinking. A problem which still exists, however, is that conventional bibs are often uncomfortable to wear and may increase the choking if improperly worn. Moreover, conventional bibs generally only protect the chest area of a wearer, providing little or no coverage for shoulders and sleeve areas. Thus, there remains a need for a shirt attachable bib having the shape of a conventional shirt which enables it to cover the entire front side of a wearer. It would be helpful if such a shirt attachable bib included a back side defined by a low tack adhesive to allow it to be removably adhered to a wearers shirt for use. It would be additionally desirable for such a shirt attachable bib included perforated sleeves to allow a user to selectively configure it for use with either a long sleeve or short sleeve shirt.
The Applicant's invention described herein provides for a shirt attachable bib adapted to be adhered to the shirt of a wearer to protect the entire front side of the shirt. The primary aspects of Applicant's shirt attachable bib are a bib body with an adhesive side, configurable sleeves, and pocket. When in operation, the shirt attachable bib serves as a more comfortable (to wear) and effective protector of a wearer's clothing. As a result, many of the limitations imposed by prior art structures are removed.
A shirt attachable bib for removable placement over a wearer's shirt to protect the entire front side of the shirt. The shirt attachable bib comprises a bib body having a front side which includes a pocket positioned at its bottom end, a back side coated with a low tack adhesive, and two opposing sleeve portions, each of which includes a perforated section which allows a lower portion. The adhesive on the back side enables the shirt attachable bib to be positioned on a wearer simply by aligning it over a wearer's shirt and pressing the back side onto the shirt. The back side additionally includes an integrated tab portion to allow it to more easily be removed once in place on a wearer. The perforated section makes each opposing sleeve portion configurable from a long sleeve style sleeve to a short sleeve style sleeve.
It is an object of this invention to provide a shirt attachable bib having the shape of a conventional shirt which enables it to cover the entire front side of a wearer.
It is another object of this invention to provide a shirt attachable bib which includes a back side defined by a low tack adhesive to allow it to be removably adhered to a wearers shirt for use.
It is yet another object of this invention to provide a shirt attachable bib included perforated sleeves which allow a user to selectively configure it for use with either a long sleeve or short sleeve shirt.
These and other objects will be apparent to one of skill in the art.
Referring now to the drawings and in particular
The back side 12 is coated with a low tack adhesive which causes the shirt attachable bib 10 to function in a similar manner to a conventional removable sticker. In this regard, the low tack adhesive on the back side 12 allows the shirt attachable bib 10 positioned on a wearer simply by aligning the shirt attachable bib 10 over a wearer's shirt and pressing the back side 12 onto the shirt.
Integrated with the back side 12 is a tab portion which is defined by two tab extensions 15 which extend up from area of the bib body adjacent to a wearer's shoulders and a tab base 16 positioned in the area of the bib body adjacent to a wearer's chest. It is contemplated that the tab portion provides a structure by which the shirt attachable bib 10 can be more easily removed. In this regard, a user can simply pull on the tab extensions 15 to remove the bib. When this occurs, the force exerted by the user is transferred to the tab base 16 (because the tab extensions 15 are connected to the tab base 16) to increase the leverage of the pull (transferring pressure exerted at the edge through the body to the middle) and make the pull more effective.
Each opposing sleeve portion 13 includes a perforated section 17 which allows a lower portion 18 to be detached. In this regard, the perforated section 17 makes each opposing sleeve portion 13 configurable from a long sleeve style sleeve (as the default, illustrated in
The instant invention has been shown and described herein in what is considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiment. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made therefrom within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
