- 2. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein when said set value rewriting means rewrites said set shutter speed S with a given shutter speed not higher than said flash synchronization speed S.sub.O, said set value rewriting means rewrites said set shutter speed S with a shutter speed which is slower under slow-shutter speed synchronization conditions than otherwise.
- 3. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein, after said signal has disappeared, said set value rewriting means rewrites said set shutter speed S with said value M temporarily stored in said set value storing means on the condition that said switching means is not operated during supply of said signal after said set value rewriting means has rewritten said set shutter speed S with a given shutter speed not higher than said flash synchronization speed S.sub.O, whereas, if said switching means is operated during supply of said signal after said set value rewriting means has rewritten said set shutter speed S with a given shutter speed not higher than said flash synchronization speed S.sub.O, said set value rewriting means does not rewrite said set shutter speed S with said value M even after said signal has disappeared.
- 4. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said set value rewriting means is inhibited from executing processing to increase said set shutter speed S; provided that said switching means is operated during supply of said signal after said set value rewriting means has rewritten said set shutter speed S with a given shutter speed not higher than said flash synchronization speed S.sub.O.
- 5. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said switching means includes an up switch used to increase said set value and a down switch used to decrease said set value, said up switch and said down switch being disposed separately from each other.
- 6. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said switching means includes an up switch to increase said set value and a down switch to decrease said set value.
- 7. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said shutter speed setting means includes means for manually setting said shutter speed S.
- 8. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said signal comprises a main capacitor charge completion signal.
- 9. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said switching means comprises means for selecting a programmed AE shooting mode, an aperture-priority shooting mode a shutter-priority AE shooting mode, and a manual shooting mode in a predetermined order.
- 10. The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising means for determining whether to select slow-shutter speed sync photography.
- 11. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said switching means comprises a single up/down switch.
- 12. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said switch is a toggle switch.
- 13. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said switch is a slide switch.
- 14. The apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said switch is a seesaw switch.
- 15. A method of setting the shutter speed of a camera, said method comprising:
- (a) setting a shutter speed S;
- (b) judging whether or not said shutter speed S is higher than a flash synchronization speed S.sub.O after receiving a signal that a flash unit is ready to be used;
- (c) storing said shutter speed S in the form of a value M when said shutter speed S is judged to be higher than said flash synchronization speed S.sub.O ; and
- (d) resetting said shutter speed S with a given shutter speed not higher than said flash synchronization speed S.sub.O when said shutter speed S is judged to be higher than said flash synchronization speed S.sub.O and when said signal from the flash unit is received, and resetting the shutter speed to the value M when the signal from the flash unit is not received.
- 16. The method of setting the shutter speed according to claim 15, wherein the shutter speed S is manually set by switching means.
- 17. The method of setting the shutter speed according to claim 15, wherein the signal received from the flash unit is responsive to completion of a charge in a capacitor of the flash unit.
- 18. The method of setting the shutter speed according to claim 16, further comprising inhibiting any increase of the shutter speed when the switching means is operated during reception of said signal from said flash unit after said shutter speed has been reset to a value which is not higher than said flash synchronization speed S.sub.O.
- 19. The method of claim 15, further comprising inhibiting any response o depression of an up switch or a down switch prior to the initiation of flash photography.
- 20. The method of claim 15, further comprising increasing said shutter speed S when an up switch is depressed after the completion of flash photography.
- 21. The method of claim 15, further comprising cyclically selecting a programmed AE shooting mode, an aperture-priority shooting mode, a shutter-priority AE shooting mode, and a manual shooting mode by depressing two switches.
- 22. The method of claim 21, further comprising increasing the shutter speed S in a step-by-step fashion when said shutter-priority AE shooting mode or said manual shooting mode are selected.
- 23. The method of claim 21, further comprising decreasing the shutter speed S in step-by-step fashion when said shutter-priority AE shooting mode or said manual shooting mode are selected.
- 24. The method of claim 21, further comprising changing an aperture value in step-by-step fashion when said manual shooting mode is selected.
