Claims
- 1. A musical sound synthesizer for synthesizing musical sounds, the synthesizer comprising:
- resonance means for generating a resonance signal corresponding to a musical sound to be synthesized, the resonance signal generated in response to an input signal and a feedback signal;
- signal delay means, forming a portion of the resonance means, for delaying a signal inputted thereto, by a time corresponding to a tone pitch of the musical sound; and
- filter means, forming a portion of the resonance means, for variably changing a frequency characteristic of the resonance signal without changing a delay time encountered in the filter means, so that the tone pitch of the musical sound does not change when the frequency characteristic is changed by the filter means so as to change a tone color of the musical sound.
- 2. A musical sound synthesizer for synthesizing musical sounds, the synthesizer comprising:
- resonance means for generating a resonance signal in response to an input signal and a feedback signal, said resonance signal corresponding to a musical sound to be synthesized;
- first delay means forming a portion of said resonance means, said first delay means for delaying said input signal by a time interval in order to vary a pitch of said resonance signal; and
- filter means forming a portion of said resonance means, said filter means for varying a tone color of said resonance signal, said filter means comprising:
- (a) second delay means for delaying said resonance signal by 2N+1 delay intervals .tau..sub.k and outputting 2N+1 corresponding delayed signals, said delay intervals .tau..sub.k being products of a cardinal interval .tau..sub.s and 2N+1 integers (N+k), with each delay interval .tau..sub.k given by .tau..sub.k =(N+k) .tau..sub.s, with N being a natural number and k being an integer number of value greater than or equal to -N and less than or equal to N; and
- (b) calculation means for respectively multiplying said delayed signals by 2N+1 coefficients f.sub.k, adding 2N+1 products obtained by said multiplication, and said sums of said products, wherein said multiplication coefficients f.sub.k satisfy the following relation f.sub.k =f.sub.-k, wherein said tone color of said resonance signal is varied by changing harmonic content of said resonance signal without changing said pitch.
- 3. A musical sound synthesizer according to claim 2 wherein said calculation means multiplies said sum of products by a first predetermined value to obtain a first product, multiplies said input signal by a second predetermined value to obtain a second product, calculates a difference between said first product and said second product, and outputs said difference.
- 4. A musical sound synthesizer according to claim 3 wherein said first predetermined value and said second predetermined value are both equal to one.
