Claims
- 1. A signal recording apparatus for recording signals on a recording medium, comprising:
- means for generating a pilot signal having a reference phase;
- means for recording the pilot signal on the recording medium at a predetermined azimuth angle;
- means for reproducing said recorded pilot signal;
- delay means for delaying said reproduced pilot signal for a predetermined period;
- means for generating a tracking servo signal based on said delayed and reproduced pilot signal, said tracking servo signal having a phase with a pre-set relation to the reference phase of said pilot signal; and
- means for recording the tracking servo signal on said recording medium with an azimuth angle different from that used for recording the pilot signal, whereby said tracking servo signal on said recording medium has a pre-set phase difference from said phase of said pilot signal on said recording medium.
- 2. The signal recording apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pre-set phase difference is a difference of 90.degree..
- 3. A signal recording and reproducing apparatus for recording and reproducing a signal on and from a recording medium, comprising:
- means for recording on said recording medium a pilot signal having a reference phase and a tracking servo signal with a phase having pre-set relation with respect to the reference phase of said pilot signal, wherein said tracking servo signal is recorded on said recording medium after a pre-set delay following said pilot signal,
- said tracking servo signal having the same recording wavelength as said pilot signal and having a different azimuth angle from an azimuth angle of said pilot signal;
- means for reading out the pilot signal and the tracking servo signal recorded on said recording medium;
- means for delaying said read out pilot signal by said pre-set delay; and
- means for detecting a tracking error using a phase difference between the reference phase of the pilot signal and the phase of the tracking servo signal from the means for reading out by performing an exclusive OR operation between said read out tracking servo signal and said read out delayed pilot signal.
- 4. The signal recording and reproducing apparatus as claimed in claim 3, wherein said tracking servo signal has a phase difference of 90.degree. relative to said pilot signal.
- 5. A signal recording and reproducing method comprising:
- recording a pilot signal having a reference phase and a tracking servo signal with a phase having a pre-set relation with respect to the reference phase of said pilot signal on a recording medium, said tracking servo signal having the same recording wavelength as said pilot signal and having an azimuth angle different from an azimuth angle of said pilot signal, wherein the tracking servo signal is recorded after said pilot signal by a pre-set delay;
- reading out said pilot signal and said tracking servo signal recorded on said recording medium;
- delaying said read out pilot signal by said pre-set delay; and
- detecting a tracking error using a phase difference between the reference phase of said pilot signal and the phase of said tracking servo signal by performing an exclusive OR operation between the read out tracking servo signal and the read out delayed pilot signal.
- 6. The signal recording and/or reproducing method as claimed in claim 5, wherein said tracking servo signal has a phase difference of 90.degree. relative to said pilot signal.
