Claims
- 1. A precipitated silica in the form of aggregates having a means projected area by number of said aggregates higher than about 8,000 nm.sup.2, and further having an inter-aggregate pore volume of about 1 cm.sup.3 /g or higher and having a homogeneous inter-aggregate pore population.
- 2. A precipitated silica as recited in claim 1 wherein said mean projected area by number of said aggregates is higher than about 15,000 nm.sup.2.
- 3. A precipitated silica as recited in claim 2 wherein said mean projected area by number of said aggregates is from about 20,000 nm.sup.2 to 100,000 nm.sup.2.
- 4. A precipitated silica as recited in claim 1 wherein said inter-aggregate pore volume is greater than 1 cm.sup.3 /g.
- 5. A precipitated silica as recited in claim 2 further having a CTAB specific surface area from about 20 to 120 m.sup.2 /g and an oil absorption value from about 250 and 500 ml/100 g of silica.
- 6. A precipitated silica as recited in claim 3 further having a CTAB specific surface area from about 20 to 120 m.sup.2 /g and an oil absorption value from about 250 to 500 ml/100g.
- 7. A precipitated silica as recited in claim 1 further having an apparent density from about 0.05 to 0.25 g/cm.sup.3.
- 8. A precipitated silica as recited in claim 1 further having a CTAB surface area of between about 20 and 120 m.sup.2 /g and a DBP oil absorption capability between 250 and 500 ml/100g of silica.
- 9. A precipitated silica as recited in claim 8 further having a specific volume from about 3.64 to 5.1 cm.sup.3 /g.
- 10. A precipitated silica in the form of aggregates having:
- (a) a CTAB specific surface area from about 20 m.sup.2 /g to 120 m.sup.2 /g;
- (b) an inter-aggregate pore volume of about 1 cm.sup.3 /g or higher;
- (c) a DBP oil absorption from about 250 ml/100g to 500 ml/100g of silica;
- (d) a mean projected area by number of said aggregates from about 20,000 nm.sup.2 to 100,000 nm.sup.2 ;
- (e) a mean diameter by number with respect to elementary balls in said aggregates of from about 10 nm to 100 nm;
- (f) an apparent density from about 0.05 to 0.25; and
- (g) a specific volume from about 3.64 to 5.1 cm.sup.3 /g.
