Claims
- 1. A harvester for harvesting crops from plants when the plants are trained over horizontal beams supported by trellis posts, comprising:
- a harvester frame;
- means for moving the harvester frame under the horizontal beams supported by the trellis posts;
- a horizontal power driven shaker head; and
- means for: raising and lowering the horizontal power driven shaker head connected between the harvester frame and the horizontal power driven shaker head.
- 2. The harvester, as recited in claim 1, further comprising, means for catching the fruit, wherein the horizontal power driven shaker head is placed between the means for catching fruit and the plants, and wherein the means for catching the fruit is placed below the horizontal power driven shaker head.
- 3. The harvester, as recited in claim 1, further comprising:
- a second horizontal power driven shaker head; and
- means for maintaining the second horizontal power driven shaker head parallel to the horizontal power driven shaker head and in the same horizontal plane as the horizontal power driven shaker head as the horizontal power driven shaker head is raised and lowered.
- 4. The harvester, as recited in claim 3, further comprising, means for catching the fruit, wherein the horizontal power driven shaker head and the second horizontal power driven shaker head are placed between the means for catching fruit and the plants, and wherein the means for catching the fruit is placed below the horizontal power driven shaker head and the second horizontal power driven shaker head.
- 5. The harvester, as recited in claim 4, wherein the horizontal power driven shaker head oscillates in a direction opposite from the an oscillation direction of the second horizontal power driven shaker head.
- 6. A method of harvesting fruits from plants, comprising the steps of:
- training the plants over a horizontal beam supported at each end by vertical supports;
- transporting a harvester under the horizontal beam and between the vertical supports;
- elevating a horizontal shaker brush to contact the plants trained on the horizontal beam; and
