The subject disclosure relates to storage and display systems for merchandise, and more specifically to a single watch storage and display case for watches, jewelry and accessories.
Generally, the present disclosure relates to the field of storage. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to methods, systems, apparatuses and devices for facilitating in storage and display watches, jewelry and accessories.
Point of sale display systems for individual wristwatches and accompanying accessories are known in the art. For instance, U.S. Pat. No. 6,629,677 to Kirshner (the '677 patent) discloses a wristwatch display stand for displaying a wristwatch and a novelty item. The wristwatch is attached to a cuff member. The display stand includes a base that receives both the cuff member and the novelty item.
The '677 patent serves to incorporate a novelty item into a wristwatch display stand, thereby attracting the attention of potential purchasers. However, the watch and the novelty item are generally unrelated and function independently of one another. As such, the novelty item does not accentuate the decorative aspect of the watch itself. Given that many consumers purchase wristwatches based largely, or even solely, on aesthetics, the decorative nature of a wristwatch is an important attribute that is not addressed by the '677 patent. Further, the wristwatch display stand of the '677 patent does nothing to create or promote a relationship between the novelty item and the watch.
It would be beneficial to have a point-of-sale display system for a wristwatch that can hold a watch and associated accessories so as to accentuate the decorative aspects of the watch. Ideally, the accessories would be capable of augmenting the appearance of the watch, and the display system would promote the relationship between the watch and any such accessories.
In addition to the discussed features, it would be beneficial for the display system to allow the watch to be viewed when not in use. As mentioned, wristwatches are often purchased based on aesthetics, and the appearance of a watch is an important quality. However, while manufacturers expend considerable effort in designing an attractive watch, after sale, its appearance can typically only be appreciated when the watch is worn. When the watch is not in use, it sits on top of a dresser or in a drawer, reducing or eliminating its visibility. As such, the decorative aspect of the watch is only appreciated for limited time.
One concept that gets around these problems is that marketed by The Swatch Group under the tradename Flik Flak Fun Treasures Collection. This product consists of a children's theme watch accompanied by a novelty storage case. The case can be used to store the watch safely and, in some versions, display the watch when not in use.
The interactive nature of the watch display case makes the product especially enjoyable for children. Further, the break from traditional packaging helps to promote sales by setting the product apart from competitors at the point of sale. However, the cases of watch are complicated and expensive, adding greatly to the total cost of the watch/case system. Further, they must be packaged for sale with the watch, increasing the packaging costs.
It would therefore be beneficial if the manufacturer provided an inexpensive means for displaying the watch at the point of sale, which could then be used to display the watch when it is not in use. Ideally, the system should function cooperatively with the watch to enhance enjoyment of the product, without significantly increasing cost.
My single watch storage case supports “Escapement”. Escapement is what regulates a watch's oscillation and helps it to keep the time properly. It is an important factor in the proper functioning of a wristwatch. When a watch comes in contact with a magnetic field, the normal function of the escapement can be disturbed. The watch's internal functions could be entirely arrested or possibly begin to function in an erratic manner, and this would result in the damaging of the movement of a wristwatch. Magnetic fields are in places such as speakers, radios, and even electronic devices such as tablets and cell phones, this may include other watches.
This invention is an improvement on what currently exists. Most traditional watch storage cases do not isolate watches completely. These storage cases increase the risk of magnetic fields. The single watch storage and display case prevents magnetism.
None of the previous inventions and patents, taken either singly or in combination, is seen to describe the instant invention as claimed. Hence, the inventor of the present invention proposes to resolve and surmount existent technical difficulties to eliminate the aforementioned shortcomings of prior art.
In light of the disadvantages of the prior art, the following summary is provided to facilitate an understanding of some of the innovative features unique to the present invention and is not intended to be a full description. A full appreciation of the various aspects of the invention can be gained by taking the entire specification, claims, drawings, and abstract as a whole.
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method of single watch storage and display case protects the watch from the magnetism of magnetic fields.
Most traditional watch storage cases, stores 5, 10, 20, 50 or more watches in the same storage case. The more watches that are stored together increases the chances of magnetism.
The single watch storage and display case supports the watch's escapement function and helps to avoid exposure to magnetic fields.
Magnetic fields adversely affect the function of escapement. Escapement is what regulates the watches oscillation and helps it to keep the time properly.
The single watch storage and display case supports the watch's function of escapement and helps to avoid exposure to magnetic fields.
The single watch storage and display case is an improvement to the traditional watch storage cases on the market to date.
The timepiece and accessories are securely placed into the storage case (item #1). The storage case has a lid that closes and opens securely. Once the timepiece and accessories are placed securely into the storage case, the storage case then fits securely into the travel case (item #2). The travel case can house up to 5 individual storage cases. The travel case has a lid that closes and opens securely.
Most traditional watch storage cases do not isolate watches completely. These storage cases increase the risk of watches being exposed to magnetic fields. The single watch storage and display case prevents exposure to magnetism.
In the present invention, it consists of three items;
a) Case Satchel Bag
b) Travel Case
c) Storage Case
As above mentioned from point (a) satchel bag is where It will remain secured. (b) travel case is basically the outer side of the box in which the storage cases are adjusted. (c) storage case is the place where jewelry, watches, accessories are being stored.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a new and improved method which is of a reliable system.
This application is for all the watch collectors, watch manufacturers, and retail stores.
This Summary is provided merely for purposes of summarizing some example embodiments, so as to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the subject matter described herein. Accordingly, it will be appreciated that the above-described features are merely examples and should not be construed to narrow the scope or spirit of the subject matter described herein in any way. Other features, aspects, and advantages of the subject matter described herein will become apparent from the following Detailed Description, Figures, and Claims.
Detailed descriptions of the preferred embodiment are provided herein. It is to be understood, however, that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure or manner.
One aspect of the present invention is an additional use of the invention is to reduce the produce packaging of a manufacturer's watch product.
The single watch storage and display case limitation is that it is made of durable plastic, rather than wood.
All the major components of the single watch storage and display case housing are produced using plastic injection molding to form components that are then assembled together using screw fasteners, strategically placed adhesives or adhesive strips as needed. Materials used would likely be ABS plastic with the clear components produced using either Acrylic or Polycarbonate.
The dampening mechanism is an existing component which is bought in from a manufacturer and inserted into the assembly. The electronics for charging and lighting are produced as a custom sub-assembly and inserted into the assembly. The mounting cushions for the watch and cufflinks are produced using flocked foam pads to produce a velvet finish. Some of the accent components have a chrome plated finish which will be produced using vacuum metallization of the molded plastic components as a secondary process, after they have been produced. The clear cover may be tinted using various secondary methods such as laminating, or painting.
The majority of the components for the device are necessary for the basic operation of the device. They form the enclosure and mounting components for the single watch storage case. Optional components are the lighting feature which lights the edges of the case and internal cavity of the case for viewing the watch and accessories. These could theoretically be left out though they would diminish the overall aesthetic function of the single watch storage case.
The product is a watch display case therefore its function is to display a watch and accoutrements. Perhaps the cufflinks could be placed above (to the back) the watch instead of below (to the front) it. But the rest of the components need to remain as they are for the device to function.
