Claims
- 1. A skateboard security rack, comprising:
a pair of spaced apart support members each having a base adapted to mount to a base surface and a portion that extends normally away from the base to a height dimension at least as great as the largest deck width of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure, a first one of the support members having a maximum width dimension smaller than the smallest wheelbase of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure, the support members being adapted to mount in parallel to one another at a distance apart that is greater than the largest deck thickness of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure, a slot therefore being defined between the support members for receiving a skateboard; and locking structure coupled to both support members for constraining a skateboard positioned in the slot and having its wheels on both sides of the first support member.
- 2. The skateboard security rack of claim 1, wherein the locking structure includes elements coupled to both support members.
- 3. The skateboard security rack of claim 2, wherein the elements comprise loops coupled to both support members wherein a lock may be used to join the loops together.
- 4. The skateboard security rack of claim 3, wherein the loops are movable on at least one support member.
- 5. The skateboard security rack of claim 4, wherein the loops may slide freely on the at least one support member.
- 6. The skateboard security rack of claim 3, wherein both loops are provided in a fixed position on each respective support member.
- 7. The skateboard security rack of claim 1, wherein the locking structure is a lock coupled to both support members.
- 8. The skateboard security rack of claim 1, wherein the support members are selected from the group consisting of:
elongated hollow members; elongated solid members; hollow panels; and solid panels.
- 9. The skateboard security rack of claim 1, wherein the support members are configured as elongated upside-down U-bends.
- 10. The skateboard security rack of claim 1, wherein the base is adapted to bolt to the base surface.
- 11. The skateboard security rack of claim 1, wherein the base is adapted to be embedded in the base surface.
- 12. A skateboard security rack, comprising:
a first support member having a base adapted to mount to a base surface and a portion that extends normally away from the base to a height dimension at least as great as the largest deck width of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure, the first support member having a width dimension smaller than the smallest wheelbase of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure; and a second support member having a base adapted to mount to a base surface and a portion that extends normally away from the base to a height dimension at least as great as the largest deck width of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure, the second support member having a width dimension different than the width dimension of the first support member, the support members being mounted in parallel a distance apart that is greater than the largest deck thickness of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure, a slot therefore being defined between the first and second support members for receiving a skateboard.
- 13. The skateboard security rack of claim 12, further including a third support member identical to the first support member and adapted to mount parallel to the second support member and on the side thereof opposite the first support member a distance from the second support member that is greater than the largest board thickness of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure, another slot therefore being defined between the second and third support members for receiving another skateboard.
- 14. The skateboard security rack of claim 13, wherein the bases of the first and third support members are common.
- 15. The skateboard security rack of claim 14, wherein the bases of the first, second, and third support members are common.
- 16. The skateboard security rack of claim 14, further including at least one other support member identical to the first and third support members and mounted to their common base, and at least one other support member identical to the second support member and mounted to the base of the second support member.
- 17. The skateboard security rack of claim 12, wherein the first and second support members are formed as elongated, inverted U-shapes each having spaced apart ends and an elongated middle portion therebetween.
- 18. The skateboard security rack of claim 17, further including a ring slideable on each of the first and second support members for locking a skateboard within the slot with the aid of a lock.
- 19. The skateboard security rack of claim 12, wherein the support members are selected from the group consisting of:
elongated hollow members; elongated solid members; hollow panels; and solid panels.
- 20. A portable skateboard security rack, comprising:
a portable mounting base; and a pair of spaced apart support members each being attached to the mounting base and extending normally away from the base a height dimension at least as great as the largest deck width of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure, at least one of the support members having a width dimension smaller than the smallest wheelbase of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure, the support members being mounted in parallel to the mounting base a distance apart that is greater than the largest deck thickness of any skateboard which the security rack is designed to secure, a slot therefore being defined between the support members for receiving a skateboard.
- 21. The portable skateboard security rack of claim 20, wherein the support members are formed as elongated, inverted U-shapes each having spaced apart ends and an elongated middle portion therebetween.
- 22. The portable skateboard security rack of claim 21, wherein the base comprises a pair of spaced apart strips to which opposed ends of the support members attach.
- 23. The portable skateboard security rack of claim 20, wherein one of the support members has a width dimension larger than the other.
- 24. The portable skateboard security rack of claim 20, wherein there are more than two support members mounted to the base.
