Description
FIELD OF INVENTION

The present invention relates to a sleeping bag for children, and more particularly, the present invention relates to a sleeping bag of which an effective length can be decreased or increased.

BACKGROUND

Sleeping bags are known in the art as portable beddings that can be used for outdoor bedding, for example when camping. Sleeping bags are available for both adults and children in standard sizes. However, in the case of children, getting a proper size sleeping bag is a problem. This is because the height in children increases with age. Moreover, the sleeping bag once fit in size gets useless in one or two years, as the height of the child increases and the old sleeping bag does not fit anymore.

Thus, a desire is there for a sleeping bag that can be adjusted in length to conform to the children's growing age.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The principal object of the present invention is therefore directed to a sleeping bag for children that can be decreased or increased in length.

It is still another object of the present invention that a printed graphic on the sleeping bag changes in length with a change in length of the sleeping bag.

It is yet another object of the present invention that the sleeping bag can be aesthetic and engaging in design.

In one aspect, disclosed is a sleeping bag that includes a front side and a rear side. The front side has a first graphic member coupled to a surface of the front side. The first graphic member extends from a lower portion upwards to at least a middle portion of the sleeping bag. A fastener that has a front mating member and a rear mating member, wherein the front mating member can be coupled to a lower portion of the front side and the rear mating member can be coupled to the rear side and adjacent to a bottom of the sleeping bag. A second graphic member coupled to the rear side, and above and adjacent to the rear mating member. The lower portion of the sleeping bag can be folded wherein the rear mating member is configured to couple to the front mating member. The fastener can be a hook and loop fastener. In one case, a plurality of hook and loop fasteners can be provided, wherein front mating members of the plurality of hook and loop fasteners are elongated strips arranged longitudinally in parallel, spaced apart, and side-by-side. In one case, the second graphic member depicts a bottom portion of the first graphic member. The first graphic member can be an animalistic character having long legs and feet, the feet extend to a bottom of the front side, the second graphic member depicts the feet. Optionally, both the first graphic member and the second graphic member are printed on the front side and the rear side of the sleeping bag respectfully.

These and other objects and advantages of the embodiments herein and the summary will become readily apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

The following detailed description includes the best currently contemplated mode or modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention will be best defined by the allowed claims of any resulting patent.

Disclosed is a sleeping bag for children that can be adjusted in length to accommodate an increase in height in children with age. The disclosed sleeping bag combines a unique graphic design printed on the sleeping bag and a novel way of folding the lower portion of the sleeping bag, as well as a fastener, such as a hook and loop fasteners, hooks, or buttons that permit folding and unfolding the lower portion of the sleeping bag. A lower portion of the sleeping bag when in folded state can be unfolded resulting in an increase in the effective length of the sleeping bag as well as show the graphic on the front side of the sleeping bag appears grown-up. Similarly, folding the lower portion of the sleeping bag to decrease the effective length of the sleeping bag results in the appearance of the graphic being shorter. Therefore, with the kids growing taller, the length of the sleeping bags can also be increased, and the graphic on the sleeping bag also increases in length, adding both practical function and fun experience to the sleeping bag.

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2 which shows an exemplary embodiment of the disclosed sleeping bag 100. FIG. 1 shows the front side of the sleeping bag while FIG. 2 shows the rear side of the sleeping bag. The sleeping bag 100 can be folded at the lower portion 110 to decrease the effective length of the sleeping bag 100. A first graphic member 120 can be seen coupled to the front side of the sleeping bag 100. The first graphic member can be any design, such as an animalistic figure. The first graphic member shown in FIG. 1 is a cartoon depicting a dinosaur in a standing position having long legs and feet 125 which extend substantially to the bottom 140 of the front side of the sleeping bag 100. It is to be understood that the graphic can be any graphic provided the graphic can extend from the bottom to at least the middle of the front side of the sleeping bag. Additionally, the graphic can be applied to the sleeping bag in a variety of ways known to a skilled person, such as printed and bonded, and all such ways for applying an indicium to a surface of a bag are within the scope of the present invention. The graphic dinosaur can be in a standing position and the legs are straight extending downwards to the bottom of the sleeping bag. Above the feet 125 can be seen are a pair of strips 130. These are the front-mating members of a fastener, such as male mating member of a hook and loop fastener. FIG. 1 shows two such strips of a hook and loop fastener that extend vertically along the length of the sleeping bag and are spaced apart and arranged side-by-side. The length of these strips can correspond to the foldable length of the sleeping bag. It is to be understood that FIG. 1 shows two parallel and spaced apart strips of hook and loop fastener, however, the number of strips can be one or more, and any number of strips are within the scope of the present invention. For example, one traversing strip can be provided that extends perpendicular to the length of the sleeping bag. Similarly, the length of the strips can be varied and any such variation of the length of the strips is within the scope of the present invention. Additionally, the hook and loop fasteners are a type of fasteners and any other fastener can be used without departing from the scope of the present invention. For example, a parallel spaced apart row of a series of hooks or buttons can be provided instead of the strips of hook and loop fastener.

Referring to FIG. 2, which shows the rear side of the sleeping bag. The rear side of the sleeping bag can have the rear mating members 150 of the fastener, such as female mating member of the hook and loop fastener, along the bottom 140 of the sleeping bag 100. FIG. 2 shows the two rear mating members of the hook and loop fastener that are positioned such as when the lower portion of the sleeping bag is folded, the rear mating members can juxtapose to the front mating members for coupling. Unlike the front-mating members, the rear side of the sleeping bag can have a small strip of the hook and loop fastener, or a single hook, or a button. The lower portion of the sleeping bag can be folded upwards up to the desired length and then the bottom can be again folded such as the mating members on the rear side can be coupled to the mating members on the front side.

The lower portion of the rear side can also have a second graphic member coupled to the surface of the rear side just above the rear mating members 150. FIG. 2, shows the rear side of the sleeping bag has feet 160 as the second graphic member which is the same as the feet 125 of the first graphic member 120 on the front side. When the lower portion is folded, the second graphic member can juxtapose to the long legs of the first graphic member. When the second graphic member is positioned adjacent to the first graphic member, the second graphic member can appear to blend with the first graphic member, such as the combined first graphic member and the second graphic member visually appear to be a single graphic. For example, in FIG. 1, the feet of the first graphic member on the front side is hidden by the fold, and the feet of the second graphic member is overlaid on the long legs of the standing character, such as the feet of the second graphic member visually appear to blend with the standing character, and the original long legs now falsely appear shorter, and overall, the standing character appears shorter or less in age. Upon unfolding the lower portion of the sleeping bag, the full graphic character is visible giving the impression that the graphic character has grown up.

In one case, front mating members when is a hook and loop fastener, the elongated strips of front mating member can be provided that allows for variable-length adjustment. In case, the fasteners are the button, for example, snap buttons, parallel rows of two or more buttons spaced apart longitudinally can be provided.
