1. Technical Field
The present disclosure relates to a slidable supporting mechanism.
2. Description of Related Art
Conventionally, two slide rails are mounted to the opposite sides of a rack, to allow a server to be mounted between the slide rails. However, a server is generally very heavy, if the weight bearing ability of the slide rails are low, the slide rails are likely to be bent during installation of the server.
Many aspects of the present embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present embodiments. Moreover, in the drawing, all the views are schematic, and like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The disclosure, including the accompanying drawings, is illustrated by way of example and not by way of limitation. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean at least one.

The server 30 includes a bottom wall 31. Two spaced protruding portions 312 extend down from the bottom wall 31.
Each slide rail 10 includes a flange 12 longitudinally extending from the upper portion of the outer side of the slide rail 10.
The supporting device 20 is stamped out of a sheet metal, and includes a bottom plate 21, two side plates 23 perpendicularly extending upwards from opposite sides of the bottom plate 21, and two slide arms 25 respectively extending outwards from the tops of the side plates 23. The front ends of the bottom plate 21 and the side plates 23 are exposed out of the front ends of the slide arms 25. Two spaced openings 212 are defined in the bottom plate 21, corresponding to the protruding portions 312 of the server 30. Each slide arm 25 includes a top wall 251 perpendicularly connected to the top of the corresponding side plate 23. A sidewall 253 perpendicularly extends downwards from a side of the top wall 251, away from the corresponding side plate 23. An extension wall 255 extends from the bottom of the sidewall 253 towards and spaced from the corresponding side plate 23. A slide slot 27 is bounded by the top wall 251, the sidewall 253, and the extension wall 255.

To install the server 30 in the rack, the front ends of the bottom plate 21 and the side plates 23 are pulled out of the rack. The server 30 is placed on the bottom plate 21, with the protruding portions 312 received in the openings 212, respectively. The supporting device 20 is pushed into the rack, thereby the server 30 is installed in the rack. In other embodiments, a plurality of screws 40 is provided to extend through the bottom plate 21 and engage in the bottom wall 31, to fasten the server 30 to the supporting device 20.
In the installation process, because the supporting device 20 is slidably connected between the slide rails 10, the bottom plate 21 can support the server 30 and even out the weight of the server 30, so that the supporting device 20 is not likely to deform. The slide arms 25 are slidably supported on the tops of the corresponding slide rails 10, so that the slide rails 10 and the side plates 23 are not likely to deform, the supporting mechanism has a high bearing capacity. The openings 212 receive the protruding portions 312, which can make the server 30 be firmly mounted on the bottom plate 21, and allow heat produced by the server 30 to be dissipated through the openings 212.
