Claims
- 1. A transducer assembly for transducing information upon a magnetic recording surface during relative movement between the transducer assembly and the recording surface, said assembly comprising
- a slider body including at least three spaced downwardly depending foot portions, said slider body having a leading edge and a trailing edge, each of said downwardly depending foot portions having a trailing edge, at lest one of said foot portions being aligned neither longitudinally nor transversely with respect to said slider body with the other of said foot portions;
- triangular bearing surfaces respectively presented by bottom surfaces of each of said depending foot portions; and
- magnetic transducer means at the trailing edge of one of said depending foot portions which presents a transducing gap adjoining the adjacent bearing surface.
- 2. The transducer assembly of claim 1 wherein said foot portions are adjacent the leading and trailing edges of said slider body.
- 3. The transducer assembly of claim 2, wherein one of said foot portions is adjacent the leading edge of said slider body, and two of said foot portions are adjacent the trailing edge of said slider body.
- 4. The transducer assembly of claim 1 wherein said bearing surfaces have one side extending longitudinally and another side extending transversely with respect to said slider body.
- 5. The transducer assembly of claim 4 wherein said bearing surface transversely extending side is at the trailing edge of said bearing surface.
- 6. The transducer assembly of claim 5 wherein said transducing gap is presented adjacent said transverse side of one of said bearing surfaces.
- 7. A disk drive assembly comprising;
- a base;
- at least one rigid disk having a magnetic recording surface, said disk attached to a rotatable hub mounted on said base;
- a spindle motor for rotating said disk;
- an actuator for positioning a transducer to access data recorded on said magnetic recording surface;
- a suspension attached to said actuator for supporting said transducer;
- a transducer assembly attached to said suspension, said transducer assembly comprising:
- (a) a slider body including at least three spaced downwardly depending foot portions, said slider body having a leading edge and a trailing edge, each of said downwardly depending foot portions having a trailing edge, at least one of said foot portions being aligned neither longitudinally nor transversely with respect to said slider body with the other of said foot portions,
- (b) triangular bearing surface respectively presented by bottom surfaces of each of said depending foot portions, and
- (c) magnetic transducer means at the trailing edge of one of said depending foot portions which presents a transducing gap adjoining the adjacent bearing surface; and
- a cover mating with said base, thereby enclosing said disk, said actuator, said suspension and said transducer assembly.
- 8. The disk drive assembly of claim 7, wherein one of said foot portions is adjacent the leading edge of said slider body, and two of said foot portions are adjacent the trailing edge of said slider body.
- 9. The disk drive assembly of claim 7, wherein said triangular bearing surfaces have one side extending longitudinally and another side extending transversely with respect to said slider body.
- 10. The disk drive assembly of claim 9, wherein said bearing surface transversely extending side is at the trailing edge of said bearing surface.
- 11. The disk drive assembly of claim 10, wherein said transducing gap is presented adjacent said transverse side of one of said bearing surfaces.
- 12. A disk drive assembly comprising:
- a base;
- at least one rigid disk having a magnetic recording surface, said disk attached to a rotatable hub mounted on said base;
- a spindle motor for rotating said disk;
- a liquid lubricant covering said magnetic recording surface;
- an actuator for positioning a transducer to access data recorded on said magnetic recording surface;
- a suspension attached to said actuator for supporting said transducer;
- a transducer assembly attached to said suspension, said transducer assembly comprising:
- (a) a slider body including at least three spaced downwardly depending foot portions, said slider body having a leading edge and a trailing edge, each of said downwardly depending foot portions having a trailing edge, at least one of said foot portions being aligned neither longitudinally nor transversely with respect to said slider body with the other of said foot portions,
- (b) bearing surfaces respectively presented by bottom surfaces of each of said depending foot portions, aid bearing surfaces being in contact with and supported by said liquid lubricant during operation of said disk drive assembly,
- (c) magnetic transducer means at the trailing edge of one of said depending foot portions which presents a transducing gap adjoining the adjacent bearing surface; and
- a cover mating with said base, thereby forming an enclosure enclosing said disk, said actuator, said suspension and said transducer assembly.
- 13. The disk drive assembly of claim 12, further comprising means for recirculating said liquid lubricant within said enclosure.
- 14. The disk drive assembly of claim 12, wherein one of said foot portions is adjacent the leading edge of said slider body, and two of said foot portions are adjacent the trailing edge of said slider body.
