Claims
- 1. A cover system comprising:
- a polymer film; and
- a plurality of beads, said plurality of beads being partially embedded in said polymer film with a substantial concentration of said embedded beads having an exposed surface protruding from said polymer film.
- 2. The cover system of claim 1 wherein said beads are embedded in said polymer film by more than one-half their surface area.
- 3. The cover system of claim 2 wherein said beads are embedded in said polymer film from about 60 percent to about 90 percent.
- 4. The cover system of claim 1 wherein said plurality of beads includes at least two groups of beads having different characteristics.
- 5. The cover system of claim 4 wherein said at least two groups of beads differ in size.
- 6. The cover system of claim 4 wherein said at least two groups of beads differ in color.
- 7. The cover system of claim 6 wherein said at least two groups of beads differ in size.
- 8. The cover system of claim 1 further including a base layer, a side of said base layer is bonded to said polymer film.
- 9. The cover system of claim 8 wherein said base layer is a polymer sheet material, said polymer sheet material is different in composition from said polymer film.
- 10. The cover system of claim 9 wherein said polymer sheet material includes a foam polymer.
- 11. The cover system of claim 1 wherein said beads include a member selected from the group consisting of ceramics, flint, garnet, quartz, sand, and mixtures of these.
- 12. The cover system of claim 11 wherein said ceramic beads include a member selected from the group consisting of alumina, aluminum silicate, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, and mixtures of these.
- 13. The cover system of claim 1 wherein said beads have an average diameter of 10 to 40 mils and are dispensed in an approximate concentration of 200 to 1,100 beads per square inch.
- 14. The cover system of claim 13 wherein said beads have an approximate Mohs hardness of over 6.5.
- 15. A cover system comprising:
- a base layer, said base layer having a first side and a second side;
- a polymer film, said polymer film being bonded onto said first side of said base layer; and
- a plurality of beads, said plurality of beads:
- (i) including at least two groups of beads having different characteristics; and
- (ii) being partially embedded in said polymer film with a substantial concentration of said embedded beads having an exposed surface protruding from said polymer film.
- 16. The cover system of claim 15 wherein said plurality of beads includes at least two groups of beads having different characteristics.
- 17. The cover system of claim 15 wherein said at least two groups of beads differ in size.
- 18. The cover system of claim 15 wherein said at least two groups of beads differ in color.
- 19. The cover system of claim 15 wherein said beads are embedded in said polymer film by more than one-half their surface area.
- 20. The cover system of claim 19 wherein said beads are embedded in said polymer film from about 60 percent to about 90 percent.
- 21. The cover system of claim 15 wherein said base layer includes a foam polymer material.
- 22. The cover system of claim 15 wherein said beads include a member selected from the group consisting of ceramics, flint, garnet, quartz, sand, and mixtures of these.
- 23. The cover system claim 22 wherein said beads have an average diameter of 10 to 40 mils and are dispensed in an approximate concentration of 200 to 1,100 beads per square inch.
- 24. The cover system of claim 23 wherein said beads have an approximate Mohs hardness of over 6.5.
