Hairbrushes are used in many different ways, and it is important that a hairbrush be convenient and ergonomic. In addition, the bristles of the hairbrush often need cleaning and care.
The inventor recognized, however, that there are a number of drawbacks with the current systems.
The present application teaches a system for a hairbrush assembly, where the hairbrush serves as storage for hair balm, and also enables interchanging different hairbrushes with different bristle strengths, to all use the same handle and balm holder.
In another embodiment, a smart hairbrush is described which communicates with a phone app.

The brush part 100 interacts with and is stored partly with a base portion 150. Base portion 150 is also cylindrical, and has an outer perimeter surface 155 which is the same diameter as the perimeter edges 110. A lip portion of the base 165 is a flat portion that is substantially the same size as the lip portion 115 of the brush area. Inside the lip portion is a recessed portion 160 which extends below the surface of the perimeter surface. The recessed portion is recessed deep enough to hold the brush bristles.
When the brush/base is closed, the lip surface 165 of the base presses against the lip surface 115 of the brushes, and the brushes fit into the recessed area 160.
In an embodiment, the recessed portion 160 also holds a balm 165. The brush area 120 fits into the recessed portion 160, and extends into the balm to get some balm material on the bristles 121 every time that the brush is stored.

In another embodiment, the brush portion shown as 300 is a smart brush. The smart brush has a battery 305, which can be a removable button battery behind a battery door 306. The battery 305 powers electrical circuitry including a Bluetooth microcontroller 310 and a gyroscopic sensor 315. The Bluetooth microcontroller 310 communicates with a computer application 330 running on a user's cell phone 335. In operation, the Bluetooth microcontroller sends signals indicative of the movement of the gyroscope. This is translated into a number of movements of the hairbrush. This signal indicative of hair brush movement can be sent to the app 330 and display the number of strokes that a user has used to stroke their hair.
Another aspect is that the top portion can be changed to different bristles to match hair type and/or ethnicity. Usually, hairbrushes are soft, medium and hard. However, the present system allows modified trading-off between different hardnesses of brushes.
