- 12. The ski of claim 11, wherein said lip extends over at least about 40% of the top edge length of said fin.
- 13. The ski of claim 12, wherein the maximum width of said lip is proximate the midpoint of said ski.

- 16. The ski of claim 11, wherein said lip has a substantially lateral concave bottom surface.
- 17. The ski of claim 1, wherein said ski has at least a pair of outer keels.
- 18. The ski of claim 17, wherein the topside fin is positioned substantially over and substantially vertically aligned with one of said outer keels.
- 19. The ski of claim 1, wherein the ski has a substantially convex running surface.
- 20. The ski of claim 1, wherein said ski is a tri-keel ski.
- 21. The ski of claim 1, wherein said fin has a substantially arcuate (or curvilinear) upper edge.
- 22. The ski of claim 1, wherein said ski is constructed of a plastic material and the fin is constructed as an integral part of said ski (one-piece construction).
- 23. A rocker-shaped snowmobile ski with a pair of outboard rocker shaped keels having a pair of topside fins projecting upwardly from the upper surface of said ski proximate each outer lateral edge of said ski wherein said fins have substantially planar outer surfaces with a surface area of at least about 20 square inches with the fore and aft ends of said fin substantially merged into the upper surface of said ski.
- 24. The ski of claim 23, wherein said fins have a substantially arcuate shape along their upper edges.
- 25. The ski of claim 24, wherein said fins have outwardly projecting lips along a substantial portion of their upper edges.
- 26. The ski of claim 25, wherein said lip has a substantially arched lateral configuration over at least a portion of its length.
- 27. The ski of claim 26, wherein said lip has a substantially arched lateral configuration over substantially its entire length.
- 28. The ski of claim 27, wherein the arched surface of said lip is at least equal to the outer surface area of the fin to which it is attached.
- 29. The ski of claim 28, wherein the outer surface (sail area) of said fin is at least equal to the outer surface of an outer keel of said ski with which said fin is substantially vertically aligned.
- 30. A snowmobile ski having improved performance in varying snow conditions comprising:
a lower running surface structured and adapted for optimum performance on hard pack snow, and a raised running surface at least a portion of which is elevated substantially vertically from said lower running surface wherein said raised running surface is at least partially outboard of said lower running surface and has a generally arcuate shape wherein a generally concave raised running surface is present.
- 31. The snowmobile ski of claim 30, wherein said ski is a substantially unitary structure.
- 32. The snowmobile ski of claim 30, wherein said ski is a one-piece plastic structure.
- 33. The snowmobile ski of claim 30, wherein said raised running surface is provided by two outboard arcuate lips extending a distance substantially the entire length of the lower running surface of the ski.
- 34. The snowmobile ski of claim 33, wherein each of said outboard arcuate lips has its maximum elevation proximate the mid-point of said ski.
- 35. The snowmobile ski of claim 33, wherein each outboard arcuate lip merges at its forward region with the lower running surface of the ski.
- 36. The snowmobile ski of claim 30, wherein the raised running surface is joined adjacent at least one outer edge of said ski by a substantially vertical fin member.
- 37. The snowmobile ski of claim 36, wherein said fin member is substantially contiguous in length with said raised running surface.
- 38. The snowmobile ski of claim 30, wherein said raised running surface is generally concave longitudinally and laterally.
