DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new board game assembly embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the soccer board game assembly 10 generally comprises a panel 12 that is representative of a soccer field. The panel 12 has an upper surface 14 that is colored green so that the upper surface 14 mimics at least one of grass and artificial turf. A set of lines 16 is coupled to the upper surface 14 of the panel 12 so that the panel 12 mimics a regulation soccer field.

Each of a pair of goals 18 is coupled to the panel 12 proximate to a respective opposing end 20 of the panel 12 and equally distant from opposing sides 22 of the panel 12. The goals 18 comprises at least one of mesh and netting.

A disc 24 and a set of figurines 26 are selectively positionable upon the upper surface 14 of the panel 12. Each figurine 26 comprises a base 28 that is configured to be grasped in a hand of a user, positioning the user to tilt the figurine 26 and to impart a downward force upon a circumference 30 of the disc 24 to selectively propel the disc 24 toward a respective goal 18 and another figurine 26. The present invention also anticipates the user utilizing the base 28 to strike the disc 24 to impart motion to the disc 24.

A wall 32 that is coupled to and extends annularly around a perimeter 34 of the panel 12 is configured to retain the disc 24 upon the panel 12. An instruction 36 is provided that comprises a set of rules 38 to play a soccer themed game upon the panel 12 using the set of figurines 26 and the disc 24.

The set of figurines 26 comprises a first team 40 and a second team 42. The first team 40 and the second team 42 are distinguishable by color. For example, the first team 40 and the second team 42 might be blue and green, respectively, or each may be colored so as to represent a professional soccer team. Each of the first team 40 and the second team 42 comprises ten players 44 and one goalie 46. The players 44 may have a variety of poses, as shown in FIG. 3.

The bases 28 of the players 44 may be cylindrically shaped, or alternatively shaped, such as, but not limited to, ovally shaped, squarely shaped, and the like. The bases 28 of the goalies 46 may be rectangularly box shaped, or alternatively shaped, such as, but not limited to, ovally shaped, cylindrically shaped, and the like. The set of figurines 26 also may comprise a referee 48. The base 28 of the referee 48 may be rectangularly box shaped, or alternatively shaped, such as, but not limited to, ovally shaped, cylindrically shaped, and the like.

The assembly 10 also may comprise a yellow card 50 and a red card 52, which are selectively couplable to an upraised hand 54 of the referee 48, as shown in FIG. 4, and thus configured to indicate a caution and a dismissal, respectively.

The assembly 10 also may comprise a pair of detectors 56 and a display 58. Each detector 56 is coupled to the panel 12 proximate to a respective goal 18. The detector 56 is configured to detect entry of the disc 24 into the respective goal 18. The display 58 is coupled to the perimeter 34 of the panel 12 and is operationally coupled to the pair of detectors 56. A respective detector 56 is positioned to signal the display 58 upon entry of the disc 24 into an associated goal 18, wherein the display 58 is configured to illuminate to indicate a goal.

In use, the disc 24 and the set of figurines 26 are positioned on the upper surface 14 of the panel 12. A first game participant assigned the first team 40 propels the disc 24 toward the goal 18 of a second game participant, or toward another player 44 of the first team 40, by grasping the base 28 of a player 44 of the first team 40, tilting the figurine 26, and then bringing the base 28 down upon the circumference 30 of the disc 24.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the elements is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
