Claims
- 1. A combination latch and contact stamped out of a substantially flat sheet of metal for use in an electrical integrated circuit (IC) socket comprising a major resilient generally vertical latch member having an upper outwardly and downwardly extending cam surface superimposed over an engagement recess, for securing a cover element to the socket a minor diagonal contact member having a terminal curved contact position adjacent a restraining projection for electrically engaging a contact of an IC and a base member adapted to be superimposed on a printed wiring board (PWB) and having a lower contact position with a plurality of contact points.
- 2. The combination latch and contact of claim 1 wherein the base member include a clip for engagement of the electrical socket.
- 3. The combination latch and contact of claim 1 wherein the contact member provides an electrical path between an integrated circuit (IC) and the PWB.
- 4. The combination latch and contact of claim 3 wherein the IC has lateral contacts and the contact member has a rounded upper contact position for abutting one of the lateral contacts of the IC and a planar lower contact position for abutting the PWB.
- 5. The combination latch and contact of claim 4 wherein the lower contact position is superimposed over a metallized contact on the PWB.
- 6. The combination latch and contact of claim 5 wherein there are a plurality of contact points on the lower contact position so that the contacts are adapted for use with a plurality of PWB metallization patterns.
- 7. The combination latch and contact of claim 6 wherein the rounded upper contact position abuts one of the lateral contacts on the IC.
- 8. The combination latch and contact of claim 7 wherein the contact member is resiliently biased against one of the lateral contacts on the IC.
- 9. The combination latch and contact of claim 8 wherein the lateral contacts on the IC extend laterally in a first lateral section, then an oblique section and then a second section and the lateral upper contact position engages the second lateral section.
