- 2. The hand tool of claim 1 further comprising a first sleeve mounted over the first handle and a second sleeve mounted over the second handle, each of the sleeves including a slot formed therein, with one of the legs extending into each of the slots.
- 3. The hand tool of claim 2 further comprising a loop formed on the end of at least one of the legs.
- 4. A hand tool, comprising:
first and second elongated frames each including a handle and a jaw; a pivot pin extending through the first and second elongated frames to pivotably join them; first and second sleeves mounted over the handles of the first and second frames; and a compression spring attached to the sleeves in order to bias the handles apart.
- 5. The hand tool of claim 4 wherein the spring has a coil and first and second elongated legs extending from the coil, the first leg being fastened to the first sleeve and the second leg being fastened to the second sleeve.
- 6. The hand tool of claim 5 wherein each of the sleeves includes a slot formed therein, with one of the legs extending into each of the slots.
- 7. The hand tool of claim 5 further comprising a screw threaded to the sleeve and engaging one of the legs to retain it on the sleeve.
- 8. The hand tool of claim 5 further comprising a loop formed on the end of at least one of the legs.
- 9. The hand tool of claim 5 wherein each of the sleeves includes a slot formed therein, with one of the legs extending into each of the slots, the legs further comprising a loop formed on the ends thereof, the loop having a diameter such that the loop will engage the sleeve to retain the leg within the slot.
- 10. A coil spring for biasing the handles of a hand tool apart, the spring comprising a coil and first and second elongated legs extending from the coil for engagement with the handles.
