Claims
- 1. A method for detecting sound events in a sound field, comprising:
modeling an accommodation property of a human hearing mechanism; separating the sound events from any background sounds in response to the accommodation property; modeling a beginning detection property of the human hearing mechanism; and detecting the sound events in response to the beginning detection property.
- 2. The method, as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:
modeling a frequency bias property of the human hearing mechanism; and emphasizing directionally important frequencies in the sound field in response to the frequency bias property.
- 3. A computer readable storage medium storing computer readable program code, comprising:
data encoding a sound field; and a computer code for implementing a sound event detection method for detecting sound events in the sound field.
- 4. The computer readable storage medium storing computer readable program code, as claimed in claim 3, where the sound field is generated in a single channel; and where the sound event detection method includes a sound event detection method for a single channel and a single sound event type, and detects sound events of the single sound event type.
- 5. A sound event detection device, comprising:
an interface unit for receiving a sound field; and a detection unit, where the detector device includes,
a processor, where the processor is coupled to the interface unit and receives the sound field; and a memory, where the memory is coupled to the processor and stores a sound event detection method; where in response to a request from the processor, the memory communicates the sound event detection method to the processor; where the processor uses the sound event detection method to detect sound events in the sound field to produce a trigger signal, and where the processor communicates the trigger signal to the interface unit.
- 6. A sound event detector, comprising:
a linear to decibel converter, where the linear to decibel converter receives the sound field and produces a decibel voltage signal; and a trigger generation circuit, where the trigger generation circuit receives the decibel voltage signal and produces a trigger signal indicating the occurrence of one or more sound events in a sound field.
- 7. A sound event detector for detecting sound events in a sound field, comprising:
a beginning detection modeling means, where the beginning detection modeling means receives the sound field and produces a filtered power signal; an accommodation modeling means, where the accommodation modeling means receives the filtered power signal and produces an accommodated signal; a means for distinguishing the sound events from any noise present in the accommodated signal, where the means for distinguishing the sound events is couple to the accommodation modeling means, receives the accommodated signal and produces a trigger signal.
