Claims
- 1. A sound field correcting system for correcting a sound field formed by a combination of at least one direct sound wave radiated directly from at least a first loudspeaker and traveling a first distance to reach a listener and a plurality of reflected sound waves, also radiated from said at least said first loudspeaker and each traveling different respective distances longer than said first distance to reach said listener, and wherein said sound field is formed by said at least one direct sound wave and said plurality of reflected sound waves, said sound field correcting system comprising:
- a plurality of delay means for receiving an original signal which is an electrical equivalent of said at least one direct sound wave to provide a plurality of delayed signals as a function of said different respective distances;
- a plurality of high-pass filters for receiving respective ones of said delayed signals and altering a frequency characteristic of each of said delayed signals to produce a plurality of filtered signals;
- a plurality of level adjusting means for receiving respective ones of said filtered signals and adjusting respective levels thereof to produce a plurality of output signals which are electrical equivalents of said respective ones of said plurality of reflected sound waves; and
- first adding means for superposing said output signals of said level adjusting means on said original signal to provide said first corrected signal for eliminating an effect of said reflected sound waves at a predetermined listening point in said sound field, said superposing of said output signals of said level adjusting means boosting a low frequency characteristic of said first corrected signal.
- 2. A sound field correcting system as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a plurality of inverter means interposed between respective ones of said adjusting means and said first adding means for adjusting respective phases of said output signals.
- 3. A sound field correcting system as claimed in claim 1, wherein said first adding means comprises:
- first mixing means for receiving and mixing all of said output signals to provide said first corrected signal;
- inverter means for receiving said first corrected signal and inverting its phase; and
- second mixing means receiving an output of said inverter means for providing a second corrected signal to said loudspeaker.
- 4. A sound field correcting system for correcting a sound field formed by a combination of a plurality of direct sound waves radiated directly from front and rear loudspeakers, provided respectively for front and rear seats, and a plurality of reflected sound waves, also radiated from said front and rear loudspeakers, said sound field correcting system comprising:
- one pair of correcting means provided for each of respective drive systems driving said front and rear loudspeakers, each of said correcting means comprising in turn:
- first addition means comprising left channel delay means, a left channel low pass filter, left channel level adjusting means, and left channel inverter means, for adjusting a level and delay of a left channel signal to obtain a first modification signal and adding said first modification signal to a right channel signal to produce a corrected right channel signal which is applied to said right channel loudspeaker; and
- second addition means comprising right channel delay means, a right channel low pass filter, right channel level adjusting means, and right channel inverter means, for adjusting a level and delay of a right channel signal to obtain a second modification signal and adding said second modification signal to said left channel signal to produce a corrected left channel signal which is applied to said left channel loudspeaker,
- each of said correcting means providing corrected output signals to respective ones of said front and rear loudspeakers.
- 5. A sound field correcting system for correcting a sound field formed by a combination of a plurality of direct sound waves radiated directly from right and left channel loudspeakers for stereo reproduction, and a plurality of reflected sound waves thereof, said sound field correcting system comprising:
- first addition means comprising left channel delay means, a left channel high pass filter, left channel level adjusting means, and left channel inverter means, for adjusting a level and delay of a left channel signal to obtain a first modification signal and adding said first modification signal to a right channel signal to produce a corrected right channel signal which is applied to said right channel loudspeaker; and
- second addition means comprising right channel delay means, a right channel high pass filter, right channel level adjusting means, and right channel inverter means, for adjusting a level and delay of said right channel signal to obtain a second modification signal and adding said second modification signal to said left channel signal to produce a corrected left channel signal which is applied to said left channel loudspeaker.
- 6. A sound field correcting system as claimed in claim 5, wherein:
- said first addition means further comprises second right channel delay means, a second right channel high pass filter, second right channel level adjusting means, and first right channel phase shift means for shifting a phase of an output of said second right channel level adjusting means; and
- said second addition means further comprises second left channel delay means, a second left channel high pass filter, second left channel level adjusting means, and first left channel phase shift means for shifting a phase of an output of said second left channel level adjusting means; and
- wherein said first addition means adds said output of said first right channel phase shift means and said output of said first left channel inverter means to provide said right channel corrected signal to said right channel loudspeaker; and
- wherein said second addition means adds said output of said first left channel phase shift means and said output of said first right channel inverter means to provide said left channel corrected signal to said left channel loudspeaker.
- 7. A sound field correcting system for correcting a sound field formed by a combination of a plurality of direct sound waves radiated directly from left and right channel loudspeakers and traveling a first distance to reach a listener and a plurality of reflected sound waves, also radiated from said left and right channel loudspeakers and traveling a second, longer distance to reach said listener, said sound field correcting system comprising:
- first addition means comprising left channel delay means, a left channel low pass filter, left channel level adjusting means, and left channel inverter means, for adjusting a level and delay of a left channel signal to obtain a first modification signal and adding said first modification signal to a right channel signal to produce a corrected right channel signal which is applied to said right channel loudspeaker; and
- second addition means comprising right channel delay means, a right channel low pass filter, right channel level adjusting means, and right channel inverter means, for adjusting a level and delay of a right channel signal to obtain a second modification signal and adding said second modification signal to said left channel signal to produce a corrected left channel signal which is applied to said left channel loudspeaker.
- 8. A sound field correcting system, mounted on a vehicle for correcting a sound field formed by a combination of a plurality of direct sound waves radiated directly from front and rear loudspeakers provided respectively for front and rear seats, and a plurality of reflected sound waves, also radiated from said front and rear loudspeakers, said sound field correcting system comprising:
- one pair of correcting means, provided for each of respective drive systems driving said front and rear loudspeakers, each of said correcting means comprising:
- delay means for delaying an original signal which is an electrical equivalent of one of said direct sound waves to provide a delayed signal;
- a high-pass filter for receiving said delayed signal and altering a frequency characteristic of said delayed signal to produce a filtered signal;
- level adjusting means for receiving said filtered signal and adjusting its level to produce an output signal which is an electrical equivalent of one of said reflected sound waves; and
- first adding means for superposing the output signal of said adjusting means on said original signal to obtain a first corrected signal for eliminating an effect of said at least one reflected sound wave at a predetermined listening point in said sound field, said superposing of said output signal of said adjusting means boosting a low frequency characteristic of said first corrected signal,
- each of said correcting means providing corrected output signals to respective ones of said front and rear loudspeakers;
- said sound field correcting system further comprising second delay means for delaying sound waves radiated from said rear loudspeakers by a predetermined period of time with respect to sound waves radiated from said front loudspeakers.
- 9. A sound field correcting system as claimed in claim 8, further comprising inverter means interposed between said adjusting means and said first adding means for adjusting a phase of said output signal.
