- 2. A sound signal processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said bit count reducing means takes a bit count reduction signal as an input and, based on said bit count reduction signal, extracts high-order j bits (k>j) of the k bits of said digital sound signal.
- 3. A sound signal processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said k is 16 or 12 and said j is 8.
- 4. A sound signal processing apparatus comprising:sample deleting means for taking as an input a digital sound signal consisting of a prescribed number of samples, and for deleting samples from said digital sound signal with a prescribed periodicity; and signal converting means for converting digital sound signals left undeleted by said sample deleting means into analog sound signals.
- 5. A sound signal processing apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said sample deleting means takes a sample deletion signal as an input and, based on said sample deletion signal, deletes samples from said digital sound signal with said prescribed periodicity.
- 6. A sound signal processing apparatus comprising:extracting means for extracting from a composite digital sound signal representing a plurality of sound sequences, wherein said sound sequences include a plurality of sound signals to be reproduced in the same time period, digital sound signals corresponding to a portion of said sound sequences, wherein each of sequences includes a plurality of digital sound signals sampled individually, each of said sound sequences being obtained from a different location of a plurality of locations, and signal converting means for converting the digital sound signals extracted by said extracting means into an analog sound signal.
- 7. A sound signal processing apparatus comprising:averaging means for taking as an input a composite digital sound signal representing a plurality of sound sequences that are related to each other, each of said sound sequences represented by a prescribed number of samples, said sound sequences include a plurality of sound signals to be reproduced in the same time period, and for averaging digital values of a portion of said sound signals sampled at the same sampling instant between said sound signals corresponding to two or more sounds arbitrarily selected from among said plurality of sound sequences; each of said sound sequences being obtained from a different location of a plurality of locations; and signal converting means for converting said averaged digital sound signals and/or unaveraged digital sound signals into analog sound signals.
- 8. In a sound signal processing apparatus receiving a digital composite signal of multiple sequences of digital sound signals, a method of processing the digital composite signal comprising the steps of:(a) receiving the digital composite signal of multiple sequences of digital sound signals, each sequence having a digital sound signal occurring in the same time period as a digital sound signal of another sequence; (b) extracting first digital sound signals occurring in a first time period of one or more sequences; (c) extracting second digital sound signals occurring in a second time period of said one or more sequences, the second time period being different in time from the first time period; (d) arranging adjacently at least the extracted first and second digital sound signals of the respective one or more sequences; and (e) converting the digital sound signals arranged in step (d) into analog signals; wherein said one or more sequences corresponds to a portion of the multiple sequences.
- 9. The method of claim 8 in which each of the multiple sequences is obtained from a different spatial location.
- 10. In a sound signal processing apparatus receiving a digital composite signal of multiple sequences of digital sound signals, each sequence having a digital sound signal occurring in the same time period as a digital sound signal of another sequence, and each sequence originating from one of a predetermined number of spatial locations,a method of processing the digital composite signal comprising the steps of: (a) receiving the digital composite signal of multiple sequences of digital sound signals, each sequence originating from one of the predetermined number of spatial locations; (b) extracting from the digital composite signal, each of the digital sound signals of one or more sequences originating from the respective spatial locations; and (c) converting the extracted digital sound signals of the one or more sequences originating from the respective spatial locations to analog signals.
- 11. In a digital sound signal processing apparatus, a method of processing blocks of data comprising the steps of:(a) receiving blocks of data corresponding to multiple channels of sound recorded from more than two spatial locations, in which each channel of sound corresponds to a different spatial location; (b) extracting from the received blocks of data one or more sets of blocks of data corresponding to respective channels of sound recorded from the different spatial locations, in which the extracted one or more sets of blocks are arranged in a similar time sequence; and (c) discarding received blocks of data other than the sets of blocks of data extracted in step (b).
- 12. The method of claim 11 including the step of converting the extracted one or more sets of blocks into analog signals, in which the analog signals correspond to one or more channels of sound recorded from the different spatial locations.
