Claims
- 1. A support assembly for the flexible cover of an outdoor spa for preventing the ingress of water and moisture into the spa during the closed season, the spa defined by a bottom wall, stepped peripheral side wall and peripheral coping wall, the support assembly comprising:
a base member having a planar bottom surface and dimensioned to be positioned in a well of the spa defined by said bottom wall and said peripheral stepped side wall of said spa, said base member having a receiving bore formed centrally therein; a telescoping two piece support pole having a lower member receivable in said bore in said base member and an upper member slidable receivable within said lower member, said upper and lower members having a plurality of vertically disposed alignable apertures therein for receipt of a lock pin; an upper cover support member having a lower surface having a bore formed therein for engagement with said upper member of said telescoping pole member, said upper surface of said support cover member having a surface for engagement with an underside of said spa cover placed over said spa.
- 2. The support assembly in accordance with claim 1 wherein said telescoping pole member is adjustable and lockable with said lock pin securing said upper cover support member at a height above said coping of said spa.
- 3. The support assembly in accordance with claim 1 wherein said base member is hollow, said base member having a removable cap for introduction of ballast into said base member.
- 4. The support assembly in accordance with claim 1 wherein said upper support member is hollow and is formed with a planar lower surface and an umbrella shaped upper surface.
- 5. The support assembly in accordance with claim 4 wherein said upper support member is formed with a plurality of recesses in its upper surface to accommodate drinking cups.
- 6. The combination spa, spa cover, and spa cover support assembly for securing a spa during the off season and preventing the ingress of moisture or fluid into the spa during the off season, the combination comprising:
a spa defined by a bottom wall, a peripheral stepped side wall, and a peripheral top coping wall, said bottom wall and said peripheral stepped side wall defining a well within said spa; a support assembly comprising a base member having a planar lower surface and dimensioned to fit within said well of said spa, said base member having a centrally disposed bore therein, a telescoping two piece support pole defined by an upper member and a lower member, said lower member slidably engageable in said bore of said base member, said upper member slidably receivable in said lower member, said upper member and said lower member having a plurality of vertically disposed alignable apertures for acceptance of a lock pin, said support member having an upper cover support member having a centrally disposed bore therein for the slidable receipt of said upper member of said two piece support pole, said upper cover support member having a beveled or arcuate upper surface for contact with an underside of said spa cover, said telescoping two piece support pole adjusted so as to elevate said upper cover support member to a height above said coping of said spa; a spa cover disposed over said spa and said support assembly and secured, a central portion of said spa cover elevated above said spa coping by said support assembly so as to form a conical shape in said spa cover to cause run off of moisture and water.
