- an electrolytic cell communicating with the bypass line.
- 2. A spa system as in claim 1, wherein said electrolytic cell includes an impeller to pump water through said bypass line.
- 3. A spa system as in claim 1, wherein said electrolytic cell is positioned within said bypass line.
- 4. A spa system as in claim 1, wherein said bypass line directly communicates with said spa body through a wall fitting.
- 5. A spa system as in claim 4 additionally comprising a scale trap in communication with said bypass outlet of said bypass line.
- 6. A spa system as in claim 1, wherein said bypass line includes an outlet which communicates with said main line, said check valve being positioned in said main line between said bypass inlet and said bypass outlet to prevent water flow in the main line from the bypass outlet toward the pump.
- 7. A spa system as in claim 6 additionally comprising a heater positioned downstream of said bypass outlet.
- 8. A spa system as in claim 6 additionally comprising a heater positioned between said bypass outlet and said check valve.
- 9. A spa system as in claim 1, wherein said pump has two speeds.
- 10. A spa system as in claim 1 additionally comprising at least one booster pump.
- 11. A spa system comprising:
- a spa body;
- a first fluid circulation line having influent and effluent ports that communicate with said spa body;
- a second fluid circulation line having an inlet and an outlet that communicate with said first fluid circulation line, said outlet communicating with said first fluid circulation line at a point upstream of where said inlet communicates with said first fluid circulation line;
- a pump positioned within said first fluid circulation line; and
- a halogen generator comprising an electrolytic cell positioned within said second fluid circulation line.
- 12. A spa system as in claim 11, wherein the halogen generator includes an impeller which produces a flow of fluid through at least said second circulation line, independent of said pump positioned in said first fluid circulation line.
- 13. A spa system as in claim 12, wherein said impeller is arranged within said halogen generator to rotate relative to at least a first stationary electrode of the electrolytic cell.
- 14. A spa system as in claim 12, wherein the impeller is positioned to rotate between said first stationary electrode and a second stationary electrode.
- 15. A spa system as in claim 12, wherein said impeller carries at least one electrode.
- 16. A spa system comprising a spa body, a water circulation line communicating with said spa body, a halogen generator positioned within said water circulation line, said halogen generator including an electrolytic cell formed by a plurality of electrodes and an impeller positioned within a housing of the halogen generator next to at least one of said electrodes of the electrolytic cell, and a drive coupled to said impeller to rotate said impeller in a manner producing a flow of water through the electrolytic cell.
- 17. A spa system as in claim 16, wherein said impeller is disposed between an anode and a cathode of the electrolytic cell and is mounted to rotate relative to said cathode and said anode.
- 18. A spa system as in claim 17, wherein said impeller carries a first electrode surface facing said cathode and a second electrode surface facing said anode, said first and second electrode surfaces electrically communicating with each other.
- 19. A spa system as in claim 18, wherein said first electrode surface of said impeller carries a plurality of vanes that are configured to propel water through said halogen generator with said impeller rotating.
- 20. A spa system as in claim 16 additionally comprising a pump independent of said halogen generator, said pump being positioned within the water circulation line for circulating water through said water circulation line.
- 21. A spa system as in claim 20 additionally comprising a heater positioned within the water circulation line.
- 22. A spa system as in claim 16, wherein said halogen generator is connected to said spa body through a wall fitting.
- 23. A spa system as in claim 22 additionally comprising a scale trap positioned downstream of said halogen generator and communicating with said water circulation line.
- 24. A spa system as in claim 16, wherein said drive is an electric motor.
