Claims
- 1. A spacer frame suitable for use in assembly of multiple pane units, comprising spacer elements in the form of a closed figure having, adhered on a selected bonding surface(s) a coating of a heat softenable elastic sealant composition which is shape-retaining and non-tacky at temperatures below 60.degree. C. and capable of softening to bond-forming condition when heated to temperatures above 140.degree. C. and which comprises a block copolymer having two polystyrene end blocks linked to an at least substantially saturated polyolefin rubber mid-block, an aliphatic hydrocarbon resin of melting point not less than 60.degree. C., an epoxy resin, and finely divided inorganic filler.
- 2. A spacer frame of claim 1 in which the coating is adhered to an outer surface of the spacer elements extending from a bonding surface on one side of the spacer elements across parts of the spacer elements outwardly of the bonding surfaces and to a bonding surface on the other side of the spacer element.
- 3. A spacer frame of claim 1 where the coating is between 0.1 mm and 5 mm thick.
- 4. A spacer frame of claim 1 where said spacer elements are of substantially uniform cross-section throughout their length and comprise hollow body portions.
- 5. A spacer frame of claim 1 which comprises four lengths of the spacer element connected by four corner elements.
- 6. A spacer frame of claim 1 which comprises four lengths of spacer elements which are of substantially uniform cross-section throughout their length and comprise hollow body portions connected by four corner elements and where the corner elements comprise connecting portions for entry into the hollow body portions of the spacer elements and where a selected surface(s) of the corner elements is coated with said heat softenable elastic sealant composition so that a substantially continuous layer of the composition is carried by at least one surface of the assembled spacer frame.
