Claims
- 1. A method of automated programming for a mobile station comprising the steps of:
providing parameters to a mobile station for entry into a special phone book, the special phone book resides on the mobile station and is not accessible to a subscriber; and programming an entry into the special phone book based on the parameters, wherein the mobile station uses the programmed special phone book entry to process calls according to a type field.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the parameters include a phone number and a call type.
- 3. The method of claim 2, wherein the call type is associated with a special operation of the mobile station.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein the call type is an emergency call.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the parameters are provided by a system carrier.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the parameters are changed as the configuration of the wireless network changes.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein the parameters vary based on the operating region of the mobile station.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the providing and programming steps are performed during over-the-air service provisioning.
- 9. The method of claim 1, wherein the providing and programming steps are performed during field testing.
- 10. The method of claim 1, wherein the providing and programming steps are performed while the mobile station is connected to an external device.
- 11. The method of claim 10, wherein the external device is a product support tool.
- 12. The method of claim 1, wherein the providing and programming steps are implemented in software.
- 13. A method of automated programming in a mobile station, the mobile station including a special phone book not accessible to a subscriber comprising the steps of:
receiving an incoming call or placing an outgoing call; identifying the incoming call or the outgoing call as corresponding to an entry in the special phone book; and processing the incoming call or the outgoing call according to a type field designated by the special phone book entry, wherein the processing includes automatically adding an entry to the special phone book.
- 14. The method of claim 13, wherein the incoming call is an over-the-air service provisioning call.
- 15. The method of claim 13, wherein the outgoing call is an over-the-air service provisioning call.
- 16. The method of claim 13, wherein the added special phone book entry is stored during over-the-air service provisioning.
- 17. The method of claim 13, wherein the added special phone book entry is specified by a system carrier.
- 18. The method of claim 13, wherein the receiving, identifying, and processing steps are implemented in software.
- 19. A mobile station configured to be programmed comprising:
means for receiving an incoming call or placing an outgoing call; means for identifying the incoming call or the outgoing call as corresponding to an entry in a special phone book, wherein the special phone book is maintained on the mobile station and is not accessible to a subscriber; and means for processing the incoming call or the outgoing call according to a type field designated by the special phone book entry, wherein the means for processing provides for automatically adding an entry to the special phone book.
- 20. The method of claim 19, wherein the incoming call is an over-the-air service provisioning call.
- 21. The method of claim 19, wherein the outgoing call is an over-the-air service provisioning call.
- 22. The method of claim 19, wherein the added special phone book entry is stored during over-the-air service provisioning.
- 23. The method of claim 19, wherein the added special phone book entry is specified by a system carrier.
