Each article is a spectacle lens in which a surface of a lens on a front side (i.e. eye-facing side, concave surface) is subjected to a thin-film process, such as partially removing a surface layer of a surface thin film, so that a decorated portion is formed; the thin-film process can be carried out, for example, by laser irradiation; the reflectivity of light from the decorated portion is different from the reflectivity of light from a non-processed portion (i.e. portion that is not subjected to the thin-film process); thus, in a case in which a third person sees the exterior of the lens of a wearer, when the reflected light of sun light or illumination light reflected from the decorated portion enters the third person's eyes, the decorated portion is clearly recognized; in this case, the decorated portion is visually recognized as a portion having a reflectance (i.e. brightness) or color that is different from that of the non-processed portion; meanwhile, the above-mentioned reflected light is less liable to enter the eyes of the wearer wearing the spectacles; further, the decorated portion also has high transmittance to visible light, and the difference in transmittance between the decorated portion and the non-processed portion is small; thus, even when the decorated portion is within a field of view of the wearer wearing the spectacles, the presence of the decorated portion is substantially not recognized so that the decorated portion does not obscure the field of view of the wearer; accordingly, a wide and bright field of view can be obtained; further, each of the articles are applicable not only to a frame including a rim but also to a rimless-type frame; alternatively, for example, each of the articles can be mounted to a half-rim type frame that includes only a partial rim such as an upper-half rim or a lower-half rim; the decorated portion can be used as a part of a rim or in place of a rim; in any type of frame, the presence of the decorated portion provides such an external appearance as if each of the articles had a rim; the parts shown in the broken lines do not form part of the claimed designs; each of the articles are entirely transparent including the decorated portion; in each of the articles, the coloration of gray of the decorated portion shown in each drawing is not intended to limit the color of the decorated portion, rather intended to show the point that the decorated portion has a brightness or color that is different from that of the non-processed portion so that the decorated portion is visually recognized by a third person; 1.1and 2.1are perspective views seen from the front side (i.e. eye-facing side, concave surface side), respectively; 1.8and 2.8are cross-sectional views cut vertically at around the middle of 1.2and 2.2, and seen from the left, respectively; 1.9and 2.9are cross-sectional views cut vertically at around the middle of 1.2and 2.2, and seen from the right, respectively; 1.10and 2.10are cross-sectional views cut horizontally at around the middle of 1.2and 2.2, and seen from the bottom, respectively; 1.11and 2.11are cross-sectional views cut horizontally at around the middle of 1.2and 2.2, and seen from the top, respectively.
