Claims
- 1. A grip block assembly for gripping and holding a cable comprising:
- a base member having a substantially centrally located cable receiving groove therein extending over at least a portion of the length of said base member;
- a cap member having a cable gripping groove formed therein substantially parallel to said groove in said base member;
- pivotable means mounted to said base member for engaging a cable in said groove in said base member and moving it into said cable gripping groove; and
- actuating means on said cap member for causing said pivotable means to engage the cable.
- 2. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 1 wherein said movable means comprises a first pivoted member and a second pivoted member, said first and second members being mounted to said base member at a pivot point on either side of said cable receiving groove at a end thereof.
- 3. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 2 wherein said movable means further comprises a third pivoted member and a fourth pivoted member, said third and fourth pivoted members being mounted to said base member at a pivot point on either side of said cable receiving groove of a second end receiving groove, a second end thereof spaced from said first end.
- 4. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 3 wherein each of said pivoted members has a first portion on one side of said pivot point and a second portion on the other side of said pivot point.
- 5. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 3 wherein the first portion of each of said pivoted members has a cam surface thereon.
- 6. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 5 wherein the second portion of each of said pivoted members has an arcuate surface adapted to bear against a cable.
- 7. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 5 wherein said actuating means on said cap member comprises means adapted to bear against said cam surface of each of said pivoted members to cause it to pivot about said pivot point.
- 8. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 7 wherein said actuating means comprises actuating pins depending from said cap member.
- 9. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 8 wherein said first and third pivoted members are connected together and said second and fourth pivoted members are connected together.
- 10. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 1 wherein said base member, said cap member, and said movable means are made of plastic material.
- 11. A grip block assembly for gripping and holding a cable, said grip block assembly comprising
- a base member;
- a cap member adapted to be affixed to said base member;
- said base member having pivotally mounted thereon first and second lever arms;
- said cap member having means thereon for actuating said lever arms to cause them to pivot into contact with a cable extending through the grip block assembly.
- 12. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 11 and further comprising means for mounting said cap member on said base member.
- 13. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 11 wherein each of said lever arms has first and second ends, and is pivoted to said base member at a point intermediate its ends.
- 14. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 13 wherein said means for actuating said lever arms comprises one or more actuating pins, each of said pins being adapted to bear against a lever arm adjacent one end thereof.
- 15. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 11 wherein said cap member has first and second surfaces, and a gripping groove formed in said first surface for gripping and holding a cable.
- 16. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 15 and further including an arcuate recess in said second surface oriented at fight angles to said gripping groove.
- 17. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 16 and further including a recess in said first surface for receiving a cable grounding lug.
- 18. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 17 and further comprising a metallic plate member for conductively contacting the cable grounding lug.
- 19. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 11 wherein said base member has a groove therein for holding a cable.
- 20. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 19 wherein each of said first and second lever arms has first and second ends on opposite sides of a pivotal mounting of said lever arms, and said lever arms have curved surfaces thereon intermediate said first end and said pivotal mounting adapted to contact the cable to be gripped lying in said groove in said base member.
- 21. A grip block assembly as claimed in claim 20 wherein the means for actuating said lever arms comprises depending pin members on said cap member, each of said pin members being adapted to bear against said second end of one of said lever arms to raise said first end of said lever arm when said cap member is affixed to said base member.
