The present invention relates to sports gloves used in a variety of sports competitions/tournaments and, more particularly, to sports gloves which give no discomfort to the finger pulp of a wearer to provide a reduction of stress during wearing.
Sports gloves are often worn in sports competitions/tournaments such as e.g., of golf, soccer, baseball, skiing, bicycles or the like. Similarly to general gloves, such types of sports gloves are each sewn by layering fabric divided into the inner side and the back of a wearer's hand on top of each other.
For each foregoing sports glove, the fabric is cut along the contour of the hand for sewing. However, the hand on which the glove is put has thickness and roundness, and therefore the glove must be sewn into a three-dimensional shape.
In this case, for a palm which is an area of the hand except fingers, what is required is cutting into dimensions with the thickness and roundness of the hand taken into consideration. However, there is a limit to a cuttable, widthwise dimension in a part corresponding to fingers adjacent to each other. Therefore, in this condition, sewing into the three-dimensional shape is impossible due to lack of fabric width. To address this, in the sports gloves in the conventional art, for example, JP-A-H11-188130 discloses interposition of a gusset piece between a finger portion on the inner side of a hand (hereinafter referred to as a “hand inner side”) and a finger portion on the back of the hand (hereinafter referred to as a “hand back side”) in order to achieve sewing into a three-dimensional shape.
In such sports gloves in the conventional art, a finger tube is sewn by seaming together four fabric pieces in total: fabric for a finger portion on the hand inner side, fabric for the finger portion on the hand back side, and fabric for gusset pieces interposed between the finger portions. Therefore, the four seams protrude from the glove. As a result, those seams abut on the finger pulp of the wearer, and in turn this raises a disadvantageous problem of causing discomfort leading to stress during the wearing. In the sports gloves which are worn for the purpose of scoring higher on the competition or tournament, a grip force and the fit feeling are critical. In particularly, in the golf gloves, the above-described seams abut on a grip of a golf club, giving rise to serious discomfort.
The present invention has been developed for the purpose of providing a sport glove which is free from the above-described drawbacks. An embodiment of the present invention provides a sports glove which is sewn by layering fabric divided into one side and the other side of a hand on top of each other. In all or some of finger tubes excepting a thumb, the fabric is cut such that finger portions extend from a palm portion on the one side of the hand. The fabric is cut to form only a palm portion for the other side of the hand. Finger fabric pieces prepared separately from the palm portion are sewn to the finger portions on the one side of the hand and the palm portion on the other side of the hand, in order for the finger tubes to be three-dimensionally sewn from the finger portions on the one side of the hand and the finger fabric pieces on the other side of the hand.
It is conceivable that the one side of the hand on which the finger portions extend from the palm portion may be either an inner side of the hand or a back side of the hand. In an embodiment according to the present invention, the one side of the hand is the back side of the hand, and for the inner side of the hand, the fabric is cut to form only the palm portion.
In an embodiment according to the present invention, in the sports glove, the fabric is cut for the back side of the hand such that a middle finger portion, a ring finger portion and a little finger portion extend from a palm portion, and the fabric is cut for the inner side of the hand to form only a palm portion. Middle-finger, ring-finger and little-finger fabric pieces prepared separately from the palm portion are sewn to a middle finger portion, a ring finger portion and a little finger portion on the back side of the hand as well as the palm portion on the inner side of the hand.
In another embodiment according to the present invention, in the sports glove, the fabric on the inner side of the hand and the fabric on the back side of the hand are connected at a forefinger portion.
In an embodiment, the sports glove is for golf.
According to the present invention, in the sports glove structured as described above, a finger tube can be three-dimensionally sewn by use of two fabrics, the finger portion and the finger fabric piece, so that the number of seams may be decreased, leading to a reduction in discomfort of a wearer.
In this case, according to one of the embodiments of the present invention, the hand side with the finger portions extending from the palm portion may be defined as a back side of the hand. Because of this, a seam along which the finger fabric piece is sewn to is located close to the back side of the hand, so that only the finger fabric piece, rather than the seam, abuts on the finger pulp of the wearer. As a result, in the golf glove in particular, such a seam does not abut on the finger pulp of the wearer during gripping, and therefore the glove which is stress free during wearing is provided.
An example embodiment of a sport glove according to the present invention will now be described using a golf glove as an example with reference to the accompanying drawings.
The sports glove according to the present invention is sewn by layer fabric divided into the hand inner side and the hand back side on top of each other. In the embodiment, cutting is performed with a hand-inner-side fabric portion 10 and a hand-back-side fabric portion 1 connected at a forefinger portion. Throughout the figures, reference sign 11 is used to designate a palm portion. As used herein, the term “palm portion” refers to an area of a hand excepting the fingers. Reference sign 13 is used to designate a seam between the hand-inner-side fabric portion 10 and the hand-back-side fabric portion 1 when edges of the layered fabric portions are seamed together.
Here, for a middle finger tube, a ring finger tube and a little finger tube, the hand-back-side fabric portion 1 is cut out such that a middle finger portion 3, a ring finger portion 4 and a little finger portion 5 extend out from the palm portion 11.
The hand-inner-side fabric portion 10 is cut out as only the palm portion 11 without the middle finger portion, the ring finger portion and the little finger portion.
On the other hand, a middle-finger fabric piece 23, a ring-finger fabric piece 24 and a little-finger fabric piece 25 are prepared separately from the palm portion 11, which are then sewn to the middle finger portion 3, the ring finger portion 4 and the little finger portion 5 on the hand back side as well as to the palm portion on the hand inner side, so that each finger tube is three-dimensionally sewn from each finger portion on the hand back side and each finger fabric piece on the hand inner side.
