The present invention relates, in general, to sporting equipment and, more particularly, this invention relates to towels and rosin bags.
Prior to the conception and development of the present invention, rosin bags, as are generally well known in the prior art, have been used by athletes to powder their palms. Specifically of interest to the present invention are the following: Monaco, Jr., U.S. Pat. No. 4,448,560 discloses a terry cloth towel and a bag containing powdered rosin; the towel and bag being detachably attached together by loop pile or Velcro fastener means.
Hiller, U.S. Pat. No. 14,029 discloses a sweat cloth or towel for sporting purposes formed of two outer layers of fabric and an absorbing filling.
The present invention provides a sports apparatus for dispensing coating material. Such sports apparatus includes a first housing member, manufactured from a first permeable predetermined material and having a first predetermined size and a first predetermined shape. A second housing member is manufactured from a second permeable predetermined material and has a second predetermined size and a second predetermined shape. A first predetermined amount of a third predetermined material fits within such second housing. A second predetermined amount of the third predetermined material permeates through such second housing member and such first housing member upon a user touching such first housing member in a predetermined manner.
It is, therefore, one of the primary objects of the present invention to provide a quick and convenient way for sports participants to coat their hands with material such as rosin and chalk dust without leaving the playing field or requiring a “time out” from the sporting event.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide access to hand-coating material for sports players along with a means for wiping off excess.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a means for containing coating materials, such as rosin and chalk dust, such that sports participants enjoy quick access to the materials without a mess.
An additional object of the present invention is to provide a convenient means for athletes to carry coating materials onto the playing field instead of only having access to such coating materials on the sidelines.
In addition to the various objects and advantages of the present invention described with some degree of specificity above it should be obvious that additional objects and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those persons who are skilled in the relevant art from the following more detailed description of the invention, particularly, when such description is taken in conjunction with the attached drawing figures and with the appended claims.
Prior to proceeding to the more detailed description of the present invention it should be noted that, for the sake of clarity and understanding, identical components which have identical functions have been identified with identical reference numerals throughout the several views illustrated in the drawing figures.

Such sports apparatus 10 includes a first housing member 12 manufactured from a first permeable predetermined material and having a first predetermined size and a first predetermined shape. A second housing member 14 is manufactured from a second permeable predetermined material and has a second predetermined size and a second predetermined shape.
A first predetermined amount of a third predetermined material 18 fits within such second housing member 14 such that a second predetermined amount of such third predetermined material 18 permeates through such second housing member 14 and such first housing member 12 upon a user 19 touching such first housing member 12 in a predetermined manner.
It is presently preferred that such first permeable predetermined material is selected from the group consisting of terrycloth, cotton and a combination thereof. It is presently most preferred that such first permeable predetermined material is terrycloth.
In the presently preferred embodiment of the invention the third predetermined material 18 is rosin 20.
It is further presently preferred that such predetermined manner of touching is at least one of wiping, grasping, patting, squeezing, clutching, handling, shaking, gripping, and brushing.
In the presently preferred embodiment of the invention such first housing 12 includes a securing means 22 for attaching such sports apparatus to such user's clothing 24. It is presently preferred that such securing means 22 is tucking a first predetermined end 26 of said sports apparatus into a predetermined article 28 of such user's clothing 24.
In the presently preferred embodiment of the invention, such first housing 12 includes a first fastening means 32 for opening and closing such first housing 12 such that the second housing 14 can pass there through to be at least one of removed and replaced. It is presently preferred that such first fastening means 32 is at least one of a hook and loop type fastening means 34 and a drawstring type fastening means 36. It is presently most preferred that such first fastening means 32 is a hook and loop type fastening means 34.
It is further presently preferred that such second housing 14 includes a second fastening means 38 for opening and closing such second housing 14 such that the third predetermined material 18 can pass there through to be at least one of removed and replaced. It is presently preferred that such second fastening means 38 is at least one of a hook and loop type fastening means 40 and a drawstring type fastening means 42. It is presently most preferred that such second fastening means 38 is a hook and loop type fastening means 40.
It is presently preferred that such first and second predetermined materials are washable.
It is further presently preferred that such second predetermined material is at least one of netting, muslin, and cotton.
In the presently preferred embodiment such first predetermined shape is a rectangle 44 approximately 10 to 17 inches long and 4 to 6 inches wide.
While a presently preferred and various alternative embodiments of the present invention have been described in sufficient detail above to enable a person skilled in the relevant art to make and use the same it should be obvious that various other adaptations and modifications can be envisioned by those persons skilled in such art without departing from either the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
