Claims
- 1. Ceramic fiber having a dry coating thereon of an organic polymer binder which when wetted by a solvent for said organic binder is sufficient to impart a wet adhesion to steel of at least 0.2 gm/cm.sup.2.
- 2. The ceramic fiber of claim 1 having a coating thereon in amount of 0.05 to 5.0 weight percent of an organic polymer selected from the group consisting of acrylamide, hydroxyethylcelluloses, carboxymethylcelluloses and carboxyethylcelluloses, or mixtures thereof.
- 3. The fiber of claim 2 wherein the coating additionally includes an organic polymer lubricant.
- 4. The fiber of claim 3 wherein the lubricant is polyalkylene oxide present in amount of 0.25 to 1.0 percent by calculation based on weight of fiber.
- 5. The fiber of claim 1 wherein the coating is polyacrylamide present in amount of from about 0.5 to about 1 percent by calculation by weight based on weight of fiber, and the fiber additionally includes in its coating from about 0.5 to about 1.0 percent by calculation by weight of polyalkylene oxide lubricant.
