Claims
- 1. An attachment assembly for attaching a sinuous spring band to a steel rail in a furniture frame or the like, wherein the rail includes a vertical flange, comprising:
- a. a pair of openings formed in said flange between the upper and lower edges of the flange in spaced relationship longitudinally of the flange,
- b. one of said openings being elongated longitudinally a predetermined distance and the other of said openings being elongated longitudinally a distance greater than said predetermined distance, and
- c. a free end of the sinuous spring band being threaded through said one opening from front to back of the flange and then through said other opening from back to front of said band to connect said band to said flange in pivotable relationship relative thereto.
- 2. The attachment assembly of claim 5 further characterized in that:
- a. said free end of said spring band comprises a tail formed on a linear wire segment of the ultimate loop of said spring band with said ultimate loop also including a generally semi-circular wire segment,
- b. said generally semi-circular wire segment and said tail being disposed in said apertures so that said generally linear wire segment is seated against the back surface of said flange with the attachment assembly in operational relationship,
- c. said tail being so formed that once said linear wire segment is drawn against the back surface of said flange the band is locked into said apertures but free to pivot about the axis of said linear segment.
