Claims
- 1. A spring for biasing a braking member of a tape cassette to lock reels thereof during non-use, said spring comprising
- a pair of ends and a portion for attachment to the braking member intermediate of the ends thereof, and
- a pair of coils, each said coil situated along said spring between said attachment portion and one of said respective ends thereof,
- wherein each said coil is substantially 360.degree.,
- said attachment portion is substantially rectangularly-shaped and open facing said coils, and
- said ends of said spring are flared outwardly from said coils.
- 2. The spring of claim 1, wherein each said coil comprises a plurality of turns.
- 3. The spring of claim 1, wherein each said end is bent.
- 4. The spring of claim 1, wherein said spring is arranged to be affixed to said braking member at three points of said substantially rectangular attachment portion, with said coils not being fastened to said braking member.
- 5. The spring of claim 1, wherein said coils are arranged to fit on pegs mounted upon said tape cassette itself,
- whereby said spring is more tightly retained and its operation more stable.
- 6. The spring of claim 1, wherein said coils are arranged to change in diameter as the braking member is moved,
- whereby all elastic change of said spring is absorbed by said change in coil diameter, and said free ends of said spring are always returned to original position when said cassette is not in use,
- thereby preventing said spring from being worn out and also preventing a change in bent angle of said spring.
