Claims
- 1. In a chain of open mouth square ended bags constructed from an elongated band with each of said bags being defined by front and back walls, top and bottom ends, and fore and aft seal sides with each said seal side consisting of portions of said band extending from each said wall and end and sealed together by a side seal, each said seal side being breakably joined to the nearest seal side of the next adjacent bag in the chain, and elongated longitudinal strip means of said band located along the back walls and the top ends of all the bags and at least partially aligning the respective back wall and top end of each bag, the provision of each said bag having its back wall and top end sealed together with a closing seal leg extending from each seal side towards the opposite seal side a distance less than half the distance between the seal sides and defining therebetween an open mouth through which the bag may be filled from the top and between the back wall and top end.
- 2. The chain of bags of claim 1, wherein, said ends are gusseted and said walls are collapsed against each other and said closing seal legs providing an open mouth therebetween are further from the bottom end than the top-to-bottom length of the front wall.
- 3. The chain of bags of claim 2, wherein each said closing seal leg terminates at the mouth in an upturned portion.
- 4. The chain of bags of claim 2, wherein each closing seal leg merges with the side seal joining a portion of the back wall to the top end at the end thereof nearest to the back wall.
- 5. The chain of bags of claim 1, wherein said strip means has a slit next adjacent to and parallel with each closing seal leg and extending from the respective seal side for a distance such that each slit does not merge with the open mouth of a bag.
- 6. The chain of bags of claim 5, wherein each closing seal leg merges with the side seal joining a portion of the back wall to the top end at the end thereof nearest to the back wall.
- 7. The chain of bags of claim 5, wherein each said closing seal leg terminates at the mouth in an upturned portion.
- 8. The chain of bags of claim 7, wherein each closing seal leg merges with the side seal joining a portion of the back wall to the top end at the end thereof nearest to the back wall.
- 9. The chain of bags of claim 1, wherein each said closing seal leg terminates at the mouth in an upturned portion.
- 10. The chain of bags of claim 1, wherein each closing seal leg merges with the side seal joining a portion of the back wall to the top end at the end thereof nearest to the back wall.
- 11. The chain of bags of claim 1, wherein the said band is a tube of sealable flexible film and said elongated longitudinal strip means interconnects the back walls and top ends of each bag and defines a tunnel interconnecting the mouths of the bags in the chain of bags to each other.
- 12. The chain of bags of claim 11, wherein said ends are gusseted and said walls are collapsed against each other and said closing seal legs providing an open mouth are further from the bottom end than the top to bottom length of the front wall.
- 13. The chain of bags of claim 11, wherein each said closing seal leg terminates at the mouth in an upturned portion.
- 14. The chain of bags of claim 11, wherein each closing seal leg merges with the side seal joining a portion of the back wall to the top end at the end thereof nearest to the back wall.
