Claims
- 1. A method of delivering a suspension of particles within a fluid containing a supersaturated gas into a gas-depleted environment, comprising the steps of:a. preparing a suspension comprising particles within a fluid; b. exposing the suspension to a gas at a pressure greater than 2 bars; and c. delivering the suspension to the gas-depleted environment.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the particles comprise a polymer.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein the the polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyacrylamide, polypropylene, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polylactic acid, polyglycolic acid, polycaprolactone, polyethylene glycol, polystyrene, polysorbate, polymethacrylate and co-polymers thereof.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein the particles are micro-encapsulated or nano-encapsulated with a semi-permeable surface coating.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein the supersaturated gas suspension is formed by the steps of:a. centrifuging a suspension comprising particles suspended within water to form a supernatant; b. decanting the supernatant; c. suspending the particles within a liquid to form a suspension; and d. exposing the suspension to a gas at partial pressures between about 100 psi and about 1500 psi during mixing.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the step c is conducted without bubble formation.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein the step c is driven by a gas pressure gradient between the suspension and the gas-depleted environment.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the step c further comprises diffusion of the gas from the particles through the fluid to the gas-depleted environment.
- 9. The method of claim 1, wherein the particles are from about 0.1 to about 10 microns in diameter.
- 10. A suspension containing a supersaturated gas comprising particles suspended within a liquid having a viscosity from 1 centipose to 10 centipose, wherein the particles have a higher gas solubility than the liquid.
- 11. The suspension of claim 10 wherein the particles comprise a polymer.
- 12. The suspension of claim 11 wherein the polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyacrylamide, polypropylene, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polylactic acid, polyglycolic acid, polycaprolactone, polyethylene glycol, polystyrene, polysorbate, polymethacrylate and co-polymers thereof.
- 13. The suspension of claim 10 wherein the liquid is selected from the group consisting of water, oil, paraffin, wax, hydrogel, and gelatin solution.
