Claims
- 1. A composition comprising microspherical particles, the particles comprising:
- a) a hydrophobic core comprising a liquid silicone or fluorosilicone, and;
- b) an amphiphilic compound, the amphiphilic compound forming a monolayer on the surface of the particles.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein the silicone is a polydimethyldiphenyl siloxane.
- 3. The composition of claim 1 wherein the core further comprises a water-insoluble dye.
- 4. The composition of claim 1 wherein the particles are emulsified in an aqueous continuous phase.
- 5. The composition of claim 1 wherein the particles are in lyophilized form.
- 6. The composition of claim 1 wherein the monolayer comprises phospholipids.
- 7. The composition of claim 6 wherein the phospholipids are selected from the group consisting of phosphatidyl choline, phosphatidyl glycerol, phosphatidyl ethanolamine and distearoyl derivatives thereof.
