Claims
- 1. A process for the reforming of a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising contacting a hydrocarbon feedstock at reforming conditions with a bed of catalyst particles to obtain an aromatics-rich effluent stream comprising:
- (a) a multigradient noble-metal component consisting essentially of uniformly dispersed platinum and surface-layer palladium;
- (b) a nonacidic large-pore molecular sieve; and,
- (c) an inorganic-oxide binder.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the reforming conditions comprise an operating pressure of from about atmospheric to 10 atmospheres and a temperature of from about 260.degree. to 600.degree. C.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the concentration of surface-layer palladium measured at the surface of the particles is at least twice the concentration of said palladium in the central core of the catalyst particles.
- 4. The process of claim 3 wherein the concentration of surface-layer metal measured at the surface of the particles is at least three times the concentration of said metal in the central core of the catalyst particles.
- 5. The process of claim 1 wherein the nonacidic large-pore molecular sieve comprises nonacidic L-zeolite.
- 6. The process of claim 1 wherein the binder comprises silica.
- 7. A process for the reforming of a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising contacting a hydrocarbon feedstock at reforming conditions with a bed of catalyst particles to obtain an aromatics-rich effluent stream comprising:
- (a) a multigradient noble-metal component consisting essentially of a uniformly dispersed platinum component and a surface-layer palladium component;
- (b) A nonacidic L-zeolite; and,
- (c) a silica binder.
