Claims
- 1. A process for removing H.sub.2 S from a feed stream containing H.sub.2 S and hydrocarbons or hydrogen, or both comprising contacting the stream with a crystalline stannosilicate of the general formula:
- xM.sub.2 O.S.sub.i O.sub.2.4.+-.0.5S.sub.n O.sub.2.yH.sub.2 O.ZR
- M is a Group 1A metal, a Group IIA metal whereupon M.sub.2 O becomes MO, or a quaternary amine
- x is 1.5 to 4;
- y is 4 to 15;
- R is an amine; and
- Z is 0 to 4,
- wherein the framework comprises tin, silicon, and oxygen, the tin is octahedrally coordinated and silicon is tetrahedrally coordinated, absorbing H.sub.2 S on the crystalline stannoxilicate, and recovering a stream depleted in H.sub.2 S.
- 2. The process of claim 1 conducted at temperatures in the range of about 50.degree. C. to about 500.degree. C.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the stannosilicate is dried prior to contact with the feed stream and y is zero.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein the stannosilicate is dried in situ.
- 5. The process of claim 1 wherein the stannosilicate comprises an ammonium exchanged phase A as shown in Table 1.
- 6. The process of claim 1 wherein the stannosilicate comprises phase G as shown in Table 5.
- 7. The process of claim 1 wherein absorption is effected at 50.degree. C.-500.degree. C. and 125 to 600 psig.
- 8. The process of claim 6 wherein absorption is effected at 50.degree. C.-500.degree. C. and 125 to 600 psig.
- 9. The process of claim 1 wherein the stannosilicate is regenerated by treating with hydrogen.
- 10. The process of claim 6 wherein the stannosilicate is regenerated by treating with hydrogen at a temperature of 50.degree. C.-500.degree. C. and higher than the sorption temperature.
- 11. The process of claim 1 wherein at least about 80% of the H.sub.2 S in the feed stream is absorbed.
- 12. The process of claim 6 wherein at least about 80% of the H.sub.2 S is the feed stream is absorbed.
